Woods, “Drowning” climbs back to top the Melon TOP100 six months later.

Singer WOODZ (Cho Seung-yeon)’s self-composed song “Drowning” has topped the Melon Top 100 chart. “Drowning” ranked first on Melon’s main chart TOP100 as of 12:00 AM on the 7th.

It’s an achievement nearly two years after its release.

This song first entered the chart in October last year and has consistently maintained its upward trend, remaining at the top.

Besides Melon, it also achieved notable success on major music platforms such as Genie, YouTube Music, and Apple Music, proving its enduring influence.

“Drowning” is a track from WOODZ’s mini 5th album “OO-LI,” released in April 2023.

This song, in which WOODZ participated in both writing and composing, delicately yet powerfully expresses the emotions of a heart plunged into sadness after a loved one departs. The “Drowning” reversal trend that began in October last year continues to generate buzz even after 7 months, surpassing 12.6 million views on KBS2’s “Immortal Songs” special performance video for National Armed Forces Day.

It is particularly notable that the popularity of “Drowning” continues even while WOODZ is serving in the military. WOODZ, who has consistently built his unique musical world, is proving his unwavering popularity during his military service, writing his firmly established narrative.

The anticipation for the music and activities he will unveil in this new prime era is growing. WOODZ is set to be discharged on July 21 and is expected to perform at Japan’s largest music festival, “Summer Sonic 2025,” in August. Reporter Park Se-yeon psyon@edaily.co.kr
