The ‘Volleyball Empress’ Kim Yeon-koung, who retired after the 2024-25 season, said she was “tricked by MBC and the PD.”
On the broadcast of MBC Entertainment ‘Rookie Director Kim Yeon-koung’ on the 19th, an interview with Kim Yeon-koung, the Wonderdogs, and Japan’s top high school volleyball team Shuujitsu High School the night before the Korea-Japan match was aired.
In the interview conducted ahead of the match, Kim Yeon-koung expressed her determination, saying, “We must win this Korea-Japan match.”
However, Kim Yeon-koung honestly confessed her burden regarding the schedule.
When the PD asked, ‘How many days are you dedicating this week?’, Kim Yeon-koung replied, “I haven’t been able to rest a day this week. Next week is the same. Just thinking about it makes me want to cry,” showing a face as if she was about to cry.
She continued, “I was deceived by MBC and the PD. They’re con artists. I was tricked into losing my neck and personal life,” she laughed. Additionally, she jokingly complained, “I’m worried about how my voice will come out on the broadcast. Why is the interview so long? It’s 11 PM. Are you crazy?”
After retiring, Kim Yeon-koung transformed into a rookie director and is leading the Wonderdogs with insight and experience unique to former players.
