Broadcaster Lee Sang-min received a wedding congratulatory message from his mother who passed away two years ago.
On the SBS Variety Show ‘My Ugly Duckling’ that aired on the 11th, Lee Sang-min was seen writing a marriage registration form with broadcaster Seo Jang-hoon and comedian Kim Jun-ho.
In the broadcast, Kim Jun-ho said, “There is someone who congratulates your wedding, so I brought it as a video,” and showed Lee Sang-min a tablet PC. On the screen, Lee Sang-min’s mother, the late Im Yeo-soon, was restored as an AI video.
Lee Sang-min’s mother appeared on ‘My Ugly Duckling’ in 2018 but left the show due to health deterioration, and she passed away in November 2023 at the age of 81.
In the AI-restored video, Lee Sang-min’s mother said, “My son, Sang-min, who I am most proud of in the world. I am so glad you have met someone who will fill the darkness and loneliness in your life. For the rest of your life, laugh more and live happily for my share, too.”
She continued, “I really wanted to see you get married, but I’m sorry I couldn’t congratulate you in person. Instead, I will always watch over you and your spouse. I love you,” she conveyed the message.
As Kim Jun-ho and Seo Jang-hoon, who were watching the video, began to tear up, Lee Sang-min said, “I’m not crying, so why are you two crying?” and “I went to visit her just two days ago. I cried enough after saying my goodbyes,” he shared.
He went on to say, “I met someone my mother would have liked. It’s a bit sad that she can’t see her in person,” he confessed.
Watching from the studio, Shin Dong-yup said, “It reminded me of my late mother. I was sad but didn’t want to cry, so I thought, ‘But mom, you saw the first one,’” bringing laughter.
Meanwhile, Lee Sang-min married actress Lee Hye-young in 2004 after an 8-year relationship but divorced after one year.
On the 30th of last month, Lee Sang-min suddenly announced that he had remarried a non-celebrity woman who is 10 years younger after more than 20 years.
