[Seoul=RNX News] Reporter Kim Ye-eun = Rapper SINCE showcased a strong presence with solid vocal skills in ‘King of Mask Singer’.

SINCE appeared on the MBC’s ‘King of Mask Singer’ broadcast on the 7th, competing as ‘Can Be King Watermelon’ (hereafter ‘Watermelon’).

On this day, SINCE performed Lee Hi’s ‘1, 2, 3, 4’ in the second round. With a unique tone of voice that drew attention, SINCE captivated the atmosphere with rhythmic singing, groovy gestures, and stage manners.

Previously misunderstood as a dancer by the judges, SINCE received a new evaluation through this performance. Sandara Park mentioned, “Looks like a rapper or someone doing music,” and Mimi complimented SINCE’s hip groove saying, “Looks like an idol rapper.”

Changmin also guessed, “The chewy and sticky rhythm pronunciation is very cool. Seems like a rapper.”

When SINCE’s identity was revealed, the place was filled with cheers. SINCE is a musician who won the Rookie Artist of the Year at the ‘2022 Hip Hop Awards’ and was a runner-up on ‘Show Me the Money 10’.

Regarding the journey from ‘Show Me the Money’ Season 4 to Season 10 spanning 7 years, SINCE shared, “In fact, the first two seasons were just for experience, but later on, I had a strong desire to officially pursue it. Eventually, I obtained a grateful result standing in front of you.”

SINCE also recalled the overwhelming emotions upon winning the New Artist Award amid formidable candidates at the Korean Hip Hop Awards, saying, “I was very happy.”

SINCE then candidly shared the past conflict with parents when choosing music. “During high school, I studied diligently, received a full scholarship, and entered a national university,” SINCE explained, “Around the age of 25, I suddenly expressed the desire to pursue music.

Upon which, the parents reacted with surprise saying, ‘If you’re going to live doing what you want, leave.’ I also didn’t back down and left,” SINCE explained.

SINCE further shared, “I didn’t contact my father for almost two years. I vowed not to contact him until showing results with music,” and added, “Now they really like it. They were very happy about my appearance on ‘King of Mask Singer’. “

Facing the camera, SINCE shouted, “Dad, I worked really hard today. I love you” and promised, “I will become a daughter you can be proud of,” leaving a warm message.

Lastly, SINCE expressed, “I want to let many people know about the artist SINCE,” and pledged to “grow as a fearless artist through various challenges beyond just music.”

Moreover, by joining Amoeba Culture this year, SINCE has greatly expanded the musical spectrum. Recently, collaborated with singer Gummy for the rank mission track ‘Flip Flop (Prod. Padi)’ from Mnet’s ‘World of Street Woman Fighter’ leaving a strong presence with solid rapping style and energetic groove.

With the potential as a vocalist proven through ‘King of Mask Singer’, much anticipation gathers for SINCE’s future musical challenges.
