‘Flame Baseball,’ where legendary baseball players and amateur teams nationwide face off, is holding its first game in Daejeon. The 12,000-seat stadium sold out quickly, showing high interest.

According to Daejeon City on the 18th, the real baseball entertainment ‘Flame Baseball’ will open at 5 PM on the 21st at Hanbat Baseball Stadium (Daejeon Fighters Park). This game is the first public event since the agreement in May between the city and the production company to use Hanbat Baseball Stadium as a filming and game location for Flame Baseball. The city temporarily renamed the stadium to ‘Fighters Park’ after renovating the facilities to use it as the home stadium for Flame Baseball. Unattended games were held on August 17 and September 7 to finalize on-site system checks.

The ‘Flame Fighters,’ comprised of legendary players, includes Lee Dae-ho, Park Yong-taek, Nipper, and Jung Geun-woo, who appeared in ‘The Strongest Baseball,’ with Kim Sung-geun as the head coach. Their opponent, Suwon Yushin High School, was the runner-up in this year’s Golden Lion Flag tournament and reached the semifinals in the Bonghwangdaegi tournament. The games sold out immediately after ticket sales opened.

The city is offering various support to enhance visitor convenience and boost sales for local small business owners. A temporary market featuring Muncheong and Busa markets’ merchant associations and Chungmu Auto Street Shop Street will open around the stadium. In collaboration with Daejeon Tourism Organization, a Dreaming Home Run Zone, Dreaming Ramen, walnut cookies, and other stalls will be set up.

Lee Jang-woo, Mayor of Daejeon, stated, “With Hanwha Life Ballpark and Fighters Park, Daejeon will become a notable destination for baseball fans nationwide,” and added, “We will provide support to establish the city as a special baseball city where sports, tourism, and the local economy coexist.”
