[Seoul=RNX News] Reporter Jeong Seo-yeon = The stellar supporting cast of eight who will shine in the new daily drama ‘Mari and the Strange Daddies’ has been unveiled.

Set to air for the first time in October, KBS 1TV’s new daily drama ‘Mari and the Strange Daddies’ (directed by Seo Yong-su / written by Kim Hong-ju / produced by LI Entertainment and Monster Union) follows Mari’s comical journey to find her dad, portraying the birth of a family that is thicker than blood, more persistent than genes.

Today (4th), the ‘Mari and the Strange Daddies’ team announced the cast line-up, including the actors Ha Seung-ri, Hyun Woo, Park Eun-hye, Ryu Jin, Hwang Dong-ju, Gong Jung-hwan, as well as revealing a robust supporting cast consisting of acting veterans and young actors such as Jeong Ae-ri, Geum Bo-ra, Kang Shin-il, Park Hyun-jung, Jo Hyang-gi, Yun Mi-hyang, Kim Young-jae, and Lee Ji-yeon.

First, Jeong Ae-ri appears as Um Ki-bun, who knows the secret of Kang Mari (played by Ha Seung-ri)’s birth. She is the director of the prestigious Um hospital and an ambitious person aiming to establish a sperm center.

Because of a past mistake, she thinks she’s at Mari’s mercy, and when that mistake is about to be revealed, she worries incessantly.

Geum Bo-ra will transform into Mari’s adorable grandmother, Yoon Soon-ae. Soon-ae has such a skillful way with words that no one can match her, but hidden behind her sharp retorts is her love for her granddaughter Mari and her daughter Sira (played by Park Eun-hye).

She forms a late-life romance with a man she rents out a room to, due to urgent financial needs.

Kang Shin-il plays Lee Ok-soon, father of Kang Se (played by Hyun Woo) and Pung-ju (played by Ryu Jin). Ok-soon is the typical father who wishes for his family’s happiness.

If there’s anything unusual, it’s his stronger-than-average desire to see his eldest son Pung-ju get married. Due to his son who doesn’t intend to marry, he decides to leave home but gets tangled with Mari’s family through an unexpected event.

Next, Park Hyun-jung appears as Moon Sook-hee, Sira’s friend and someone who harbors a crush on Pung-ju. Working as a financial director at Um hospital, she dreams of love once more and actively pursues it after Pung-ju returns to Korea after 15 years.

However, even Sira starts aiming for Pung-ju, causing a rift in their friendship.

Jo Hyang-gi will appear as Yoon Eun-kyung, Um Ki-bun’s daughter. Eun-kyung is Ki-bun’s only daughter, and even in middle age, she’s immature and envious.

But her love for her family is always sincere. Amidst becoming bitter due to her husband who changes and her annoying cousin Sira, something happens that shakes her life.

Yun Mi-hyang portrays Um Ki-bun’s loyal secretary, Kim Mi-kyung. Having worked with Ki-bun for many years, she handles everything calmly.

Kim Young-jae takes on the role of Pyoh Do-gi, a third-year resident at Um hospital. Prickly on the outside, just as prickly on the inside, he is notorious as the hospital’s troublesome guy. But a worthy opponent who doesn’t back down emerges, bringing change to his daily life.

Lee Ji-yeon is Mari’s best friend, Ahn Su-seon. Self-proclaimed guardian angel and otherwise called a nurse by Mari, she runs a YouTube channel and lives a diligent life, until she meets Do-gi, who constantly challenges her, bringing about new emotions.

With the inclusion of Jeong Ae-ri, Geum Bo-ra, Kang Shin-il, Park Hyun-jung, Jo Hyang-gi, Yun Mi-hyang to anchor the drama, and Kim Young-jae, Lee Ji-yeon to bring vitality, interest in ‘Mari and the Strange Daddies’ is intensifying even more.

With many characters appearing, the stories of the supporting cast, expected to enrich the drama, will be a point of interest for viewers.

‘Mari and the Strange Daddies’ is a work from director Seo Yong-su, known for his delicate direction in works like Drama Special 2023 ‘Do-hyeon’s Confession’ and ‘Overlap Knife, Knife’, reuniting with writer Kim Hong-ju, who showcased her exceptional skill in human drama genres with works like ‘Though I Hate You, I Still Love You’ and ‘High School Classmates’.

Meanwhile, ‘Mari and the Strange Daddies’ will air as the successor to ‘Grab Your Lucky Hour’ in October.
