[Seoul=RNX News] Reporter Seoyeon Jeong = ‘My Youth’ Song Joong-ki, Chun Woo-hee, Lee Joo-myung, and Seo Ji-hoon return with a first love reunion romance that awakens rusty emotions.
Following ‘Innocent Man’, JTBC’s new Friday series ‘My Youth’ (written by Park Si-hyeon, directed by Lee Sang-yeob, provided by SLL, produced by Hiium Studio) premieres on September 5th (Fri). It depicts an emotional romance between Sun Woo-hae (played by Song Joong-ki), who starts an ordinary life later than others, and Sung Jae-yeon (played by Chun Woo-hee), who unexpectedly has to disrupt the tranquility of first love.
Through the reunion with a first love that gifted a dazzling moment to the dark and shadowed place, the journey to reclaim the forgotten pieces of ‘me’ offers a warm laugh and excitement.
Director Lee Sang-yeob, known for his delicate and deep directing in series like ‘Yumi’s Cells’ and ‘Familiar Wife’, meets writer Park Si-hyeon, who showcased sensual writing in ‘Run On’, to thrill drama fans. The anticipation for the romance that Song Joong-ki and Chun Woo-hee will complete is hotter than ever.
Meanwhile, the script reading session, which heightened the emotional temperature, was released and attracted attention.
At the script reading session, director Lee Sang-yeob, writer Park Si-hyeon, along with Song Joong-ki, Chun Woo-hee, Lee Joo-myung, Seo Ji-hoon, Jin Kyung, Jo Han-chul, Yoon Byung-hee, and Lee Bong-ryun, talented actors, gathered and showcased a slightly different passionate performance.
First, Song Joong-ki, transformed into a former child star and florist ‘Sun Woo-hae’, who burned his bright days too fast, and anticipates the renewal of a life character. After a short prime and exhausting his youth in the 20s for livelihood, he is a character who solidly builds life over wounds.
Song Joong-ki meticulously depicted the changes of Sun Woo-hae, who encounters the commotion called first love ‘Sung Jae-yeon’ amidst a calm life, evoking admiration. Chun Woo-hee passionately performed as ‘Sung Jae-yeon’, Sun Woo-hae’s first love and a bulldozer manager who likes clarity.
Sung Jae-yeon, who was living an uneventful reality, is a character who disrupts the tranquility of her first love Sun Woo-hae and instead faces forgotten emotions. Chun Woo-hee, who has led excellent reviews with different acting in each work, successfully portrayed the character of Sung Jae-yeon with her own charm this time as well.
Particularly, the moment when the emotions that were on pause burst open with the reunion of first loves Sun Woo-hae and Sung Jae-yeon was humorously yet tenderly captured, and the detailed synergy of Song Joong-ki and Chun Woo-hee received praise as ‘expected’.
Actress ‘Mo Tae-rin’, a former child star with a frank 4-dimensional charm, is portrayed by Lee Joo-myung. Starting from the womance with Sung Jae-yeon with a 180-degree different personality to the spicy first love remembered alone, Lee Joo-myung’s versatile passionate performance drew attention.
Suh Ji-hoon, who took on the role of ‘Kim Seok-joo’, Mo Tae-rin’s first love and Sun Woo-hae’s new brother, amplified the excitement.
The more intriguing story of the peculiar Mo Tae-rin intertwined with a mysterious woman as one gets to know her, is raising curiosity. Expectations are high for the chemistry shown by Lee Joo-myung and Seo Ji-hoon, who attract more because they are polar opposites.
The inclusion of skilled actors whose names alone boost trust also drew attention. Jin Kyung added dramatic tension by transforming into ‘Kim Pil-doo’, the head of a prominent entertainment company and Kim Seok-joo’s mother. Her charisma, as Kim Pil-doo who can do anything to have more, was indeed extraordinary.
Jo Han-chul, who immersed into ‘Sun Woo-chan’, Sun Woo-hae’s irresponsible father, a romantic poet loved by the cool-headed Kim Pil-doo who knows only success, elevated the show’s entertainment level.
Adding on, Yoon Byung-hee embodied ‘Lee Geon-no’, a reliable ally of Sun Woo-hae from childhood, infusing energy, while Lee Bong-ryun, transformed into the enthusiastic management team leader ‘Bang Han-na’, showcased her true worth with her signature realistic acting.
The production team of ‘My Youth’ stated, “‘My Youth’ is the story of people who blossom again where everything seems to have passed and withered. Please anticipate the pinnacle of beauty that actors with different acting depth will complete.”
