Singer and painter Solbi shared how she overcame a difficult period through painting.
On the Channel A entertainment show ‘Best Friend Talkumentary 4-Person Dining Table’ aired on the 21st, Solbi invited singer Lee Min-woo, Brian, and actor Kwon Hyuk-soo for a conversation.
During the broadcast, Solbi revealed that she experienced a slump around 2008.
Solbi said, “There was cyberbullying and fake scandalous video rumors,” adding, “Many personal issues overlapped. My mother collapsed and was hospitalized, and I had to repay my father’s debt.”
Solbi revealed, “Even a thief broke into my house. I suffered damage worth about 200 million won, including watches and jewelry.”
She said, “Amidst a series of unfortunate events, having been robbed made me feel like I lost my sense of worth,” and admitted, “I even thought of the last moments of life.”
Solbi mentioned that she hiked Jirisan around that time. After a long trek to the top, Solbi said she heard a voice saying, “Be a source of strength with your talent to those who are suffering or having a hard time like you.”
Solbi said, “From then on, I saw the world clearly. I saw flowers, trees, and the sky in detail, and the world looked so beautiful. The fact that I am alive felt precious,” adding, “That’s why I started painting.”
She continued, “As I drew, I learned to love myself more. It feels like I am living my true life rather than living to be noticed and loved by others,” and mentioned, “There’s something very good about painting; even negative comments about me become good material for my art.”
Solbi said, “One of the most common comments I received was ‘Can you draw an apple?’ It was mockery towards someone who was not a major,” adding, “So I made an apple into my own piece of art.”
