Actress Seo Hyo-rim conveyed her longing by reminiscing about her late mother-in-law, Kim Soo-mi.
On the 17th, Seo Hyo-rim posted on her social media (SNS), “I think of my mother more during kimchi-making season. I understand now why she made so much kimchi to share” along with photos of salted cabbages and kimchi she made herself.
She continued, “At some point, I found myself doing the exact same thing” and reminisced about Kim Soo-mi saying, “I feel a pang in my heart when it’s kimchi season.”
Kim Soo-mi passed away suddenly last October due to hyperglycemic shock caused by complications from diabetes.
Seo Hyo-rim and Kim Soo-mi bonded as mother and daughter-in-law while working together in the 2017 MBC drama ‘Man Who Sets the Table’. In 2019, Seo married Kim Soo-mi’s son, Jung Myung-ho. Known for having a special relationship with her mother-in-law, Seo Hyo-rim expressed her affectionate feelings by regularly mentioning Kim Soo-mi in various broadcast programs.
Last month, Seo Hyo-rim and Jung Myung-ho honored the first anniversary of Kim Soo-mi’s passing by donating memorial funds. These funds, derived from the royalties of Kim’s posthumous diary compilation, are distributed as scholarships and living expenses for children from crisis-stricken families in Korea through the ‘Late Kim Soo-mi Scholarship Support Project’.
At the time, Seo Hyo-rim said, “We planned to donate the profits in accordance with my mother’s wishes while publishing her diary as a book,” and added, “I hope it becomes an opportunity to convey my mother’s warm heart, who always cared for the underprivileged children and neighbors around her, to the world.”
