SBS Fri-Sat drama ‘Assassin: Killer’s Outing’ is capturing viewers’ attention as it continues to break consecutive highest viewership ratings. The production team announced on the 18th that the outline of the copycat murderer will be revealed in this week’s broadcast of episodes 5-6.
This drama, which recorded its highest viewership ratings twice in a row nationwide according to Nielsen Korea, also ranked first in Korea (Sept 8-14) and sixth globally among non-English content on Netflix, entering the TOP10 in seven countries.
Composed of a total of 8 episodes, this work involves a copycat crime occurring 23 years after the arrest of serial killer ‘Assassin’, with detective Cha Soo-yul (Jang Dong-yoon) conducting a joint investigation with his mother and ‘Assassin’ Jung Yi-shin (Go Hyun-jung), whom he has hated all his life, in this crime thriller.
In the four episodes aired so far, the first suspect Seo Gu-wan (Lee Tae-gu) died in a hit-and-run accident. As a new prominent suspect, Park Min-jae (Lee Chang-min), who was a neighbor of Jung Yi-shin and Cha Soo-yul as a child, has emerged. It was revealed that Park Min-jae, who was abused by his father as a child, viewed Jung Yi-shin as a savior and kept a model replicating the scene of the ‘Assassin’ murder case in his space.
The production team stated, “In this week’s broadcast, the outline of the ‘Assassin’ copycat murderer will finally be revealed,” adding, “Not only Jung Yi-shin and Cha Soo-yul but also the entire serial murder investigation team and Cha Soo-yul’s wife Lee Jung-yeon (Kim Bo-ra) will be caught up in the incident.”
The drama is directed by Byun Young-joo, written by Lee Young-jong, planned by StudioS and produced by Merry Christmas, Mega Monster, and Film Production Boim. It airs every Friday at 9:50 PM and Saturday at 10 PM.
