The group NewJeans has announced the termination of their contract with Adore, a label under HYBE, and HYBE’s stock price is plummeting. As of 12 PM on the 29th, according to the Korea Exchange, HYBE is trading at 197,700 KRW, down 2.85% (5800 KRW) compared to the previous trading day.
HYBE, which plunged by 6.63% (13,500 KRW) shortly after the opening compared to the previous day, fell to 189,300 KRW at one point in the early session. This is interpreted as being affected by NewJeans’ declaration to leave HYBE amid the sluggish domestic stock market.
NewJeans, which had been attracting attention as a new cash cow for HYBE, held an emergency press conference on the 28th and announced that they would terminate their exclusive contract with Adore at midnight (0 AM) on the 29th. They made it clear that it was “because Adore and HYBE violated the contract” and that “once the contract is terminated, its efficacy will be nullified, so there will be no hindrance to our activities in the future.”
They stated, “We think there is no need to litigate as we will continue our activities steadily.”

Adding insult to injury, a new risk involving Bang Si-Hyuk, the founder of HYBE, has also emerged.
On this day, a media outlet reported that Chairman Bang earned investment returns of up to 400 billion KRW through a shareholder agreement with a private equity fund at the time of HYBE’s IPO four years ago.
