The controversy surrounding actor Lee Yi Kyung’s private life revelations is ongoing. This time, whistleblower A has rebutted the agency’s ‘false statements’ stance and posted additional content.
On the 21st, whistleblower A posted on their blog, saying “since everyone wanted to see” and revealed a new video. The video depicted what seems to be Lee Yi Kyung’s official Instagram account, and upon opening the message window, parts of their conversation were displayed. A claimed, “It’s truly (Lee Yi Kyung’s) account” and presented the video as evidence. However, some netizens raised suspicions that the video might have been manipulated, questioning its credibility.

Previously, A had exposed Instagram DMs and KakaoTalk conversations that seemed to be exchanged with Lee Yi Kyung, alleging that the actor mentioned specific body parts and used abusive language. As the controversy grew, Lee Yi Kyung’s agency, Sangyoung ENT, declared, “We are preparing legal actions against the spread of false information and malicious rumors,” emphasizing their firm response. They also noted, “We plan to take all measures by estimating the scale of direct and indirect damages” and stressed, “Indiscriminate dissemination is also subject to legal action.”
However, after the agency’s statement, A once again posted on their blog, explaining, “I’ve heard people saying I asked for money. I did ask once if I could be given money, but I never received any.” A continued, “I couldn’t ask my parents for money, so I did that,” adding, “I felt uncomfortable asking for help, so I never asked again.” A asserted, “The post from yesterday was not about asking for money, but aimed at preventing other women from going through the same experience.”

A also spoke out about the suspicions surrounding them. They said, “I am in my 8th year of self-study in Korean. Since I haven’t learned from books or classes, my expressions might be awkward,” adding, “I am not a scammer, but a real German. I hope my private life is not meddled with.” They also mentioned, “I didn’t expect this matter to escalate like this.”
Lee Yi Kyung’s side is viewing this incident as more than just an online rumor. A representative from the agency said, “We received a threatening email about 5 months ago,” noting, “The contents of the email and the blog post are similar, and upon announcing legal action, the writer sent an apology email admitting ‘it was false information.’” They emphasized, “We internally resolved it, but the same content was posted again,” and concluded, “We can no longer overlook this and will proceed with legal procedures.”
Currently, some of A’s posts have been deleted, but the captures and videos are spreading through SNS, making the controversy not easily subdued. Especially since Lee Yi Kyung is appearing in major broadcasts like MBC’s ‘What Do You Do When You Play?’ and KBS2’s ‘The Return of Superman,’ the impact is expected to continue for a while.
