Lee Jung-jae and Jung Woo-sung’s side stated, “A simple meeting with Alibaba in China… Meeting with Zhou Dongyu was not scheduled” [Official]

News has emerged that actors Lee Jung-jae and Jung Woo-sung visited China’s Alibaba, and their agency has clarified the situation. A representative from Lee Jung-jae and Jung Woo-sung’s agency, Artist Company, told Ilgan Sports on the 4th, “(Lee Jung-jae and Jung Woo-sung’s) recent visit to China was merely for a casual meeting, not for a formal business meeting.” On this day, a media outlet reported that Lee Jung-jae and Jung Woo-sung recently visited an entertainment company under Alibaba Group in Chaoyang District, Beijing, and met with officials.

Alibaba is one of the leading big tech companies in China.

They are fostering the entertainment business as one of the six core businesses of the group, including ‘China’s YouTube’ Youku, Alibaba Pictures, ticket trading platform Damai, Ali Music, and Xiami Music. The media outlet noted that Alibaba Pictures co-produced the Academy Award-winning film ‘Green Book’ and reported that Lee Jung-jae and Jung Woo-sung discussed joint Sino-Korean film productions during this meeting. In response, an Artist Company representative clarified, “This meeting was not for discussing specific business matters,” and added, “They also met with various other entertainment companies in China with whom they have been in continuous exchange.” The agency further explained the encounter captured by Chinese SNS Weibo, showing Lee Jung-jae, Jung Woo-sung, and Chinese top actress Zhou Dongyu, stating, “Zhou Dongyu expressed her wish to greet them, so they met, but it was not a scheduled meeting.” Jang Joo-yeon, reporter jang3@edaily.co.kr
