Lee Dong-gook’s son, Lee Sian (nickname Daebak), a former soccer player, has been accepted into the LA Galaxy Youth Team, a prestigious club in Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States.
Lee Dong-gook’s wife, Lee Su-jin, posted on Instagram on the 24th stating, “We received an acceptance notification from the LA Galaxy Youth Team director, saying ‘We want to be with Sian,’ which is more difficult to join than Jeonbuk Hyundai.” She expressed her joy, saying, “It is a precious and valuable result because Sian was recognized solely for his efforts and skills.”
Ms. Lee explained the reason for challenging the American youth team, saying, “I was afraid that if Sian joined a domestic team like Jeonbuk Hyundai, it would be said he got in because of ‘dad’s backing.’” Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors is the team where Lee Dong-gook played from 2009 to 2020.
However, the move to the United States is not confirmed yet. Ms. Lee shared with fans, saying, “We will continue to consider and make decisions for Sian’s dream,” discussing two options: ‘Staying in Korea to develop with a good team’ and ‘Grasping both soccer and English in the U.S.’ Many fans recommended moving to the U.S.
