On December 20th, ENA channel will broadcast the first episode of the Korean-Japanese diplomatic relations 60th-anniversary grand project ‘Change Street (Director: Oh Jun-sung)’.
The ‘Change Street’, jointly scheduled on Korea’s ENA channel and Japan’s Fuji TV main terrestrial channel, is a new cultural exchange project where leading artists from Korea and Japan immerse themselves in each other’s streets, languages, and emotions to connect through music.
Capturing the symbolic moments where the ‘Street’ of two countries truly ‘Change’, this show allows viewers to directly experience the universal emotional language that music possesses beyond borders.
As K-pop evolves from a new trend into a distinct genre, ‘Change Street’ holds special significance as it is simultaneously scheduled on Korea’s leading channel ENA and Japan’s Fuji TV main channel, one of the world’s second-largest music markets and a major consumer of Hallyu.
This is a monumental scene that will be recorded as a page in the history of Hallyu, and as a vanguard of Korean-Japanese cultural exchange, ‘Change Street’ is carefully preparing to take that important first step.
The anticipation grew as the lineup of top-tier Korean artists, each with their own unique style and musical world, was unveiled.
The first lineup including Heo Young-ji, ASTRO’s Yoon San-ha, PENTAGON’s Hui, and HYNN (Park Hye-won), the second lineup with Lee Dong-hwi, Lee Sang-yi, Jeong Ji-so, MAMAMOO’s Whee In, and finally the third lineup with Lee Seung-gi, Super Junior’s Ryeowook, CHUNG HA, TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s Taehyun—all with distinctive voices and versatile talents—will light up the streets of Japan.
The nuances of emotion when a song is sung in different cities, the thrill of passing each other’s languages through music, and unexpected moments of empathy aim to complete the unique identity of ‘Change Street.’
Additionally, with sincere stories to be vividly delivered by the MC and panelists behind the stage, it is anticipated that the ‘temperature of exchange’ between the two countries will be deeply and warmly captured. As top Japanese artists and casts gradually unveil, expectations for ‘Change Street’ continue to rise.
Though ‘Change Street’ is planned and produced mainly by a domestic director, it features an extensive team of over 100 staff dedicated to location shooting, recording and sound, lighting and technical staff, writers, professional musicians, location hunting specialists, artist booking teams, local producers, and coordinators. Together, they create stages and narratives that both Korean and Japanese audiences can resonate with. Their unseen efforts are expected to complete the true value of ‘Change Street.’
An official from ‘Change Street’ stated, “As Korea and Japan experience the most frequent exchanges to date, we hope to kickstart better understanding and synergy in cultural industry development through popular cultural exchange. Meanwhile, ‘Change Street,’ a grand project for the 60th anniversary of Korean-Japanese diplomatic relations, is co-produced by Forest Media Co., Hangangfore ENM Co., and ENA, and is jointly scheduled to air on Korea’s ENA channel and Japan’s Fuji TV main terrestrial channel. It will premiere on ENA channel at 9:30 PM on Saturday, December 20th.
