Kim Doyeon is offering audiences a deep impression through her first play, ‘Anna X’. ‘Anna X’ is based on the true story of Anna Sorokin, a real person known in Korea through the Netflix series ‘Inventing Anna’.
The play is a work that brings to the stage a scam that shook New York’s social scene, and was first performed in the West End in 2021. In the play, Kim Doyeon portrays the main character Anna, who introduces herself as a wealthy heiress and enters New York’s high society, but is actually a fake heiress who gains attention, trust, and conducts scams using social media and her charm. Despite it being her first play challenge, Kim Doyeon has increased her character sync rate with a stable tone and unique atmosphere.
She perfectly portrays various emotional lines such as fear, precariousness, and a mad desire to achieve goals that Anna experiences, completing the ‘Kim Doyeon’s Anna’.
It has been reported that the two actors have easily surpassed the limits of a two-person play by delivering continuous dialogues for 100 minutes. ‘Anna X’ will be performed at LG Arts Center Seoul, U+ Stage until March 16. Meanwhile, Kim Doyeon debuted in 2016 with the project girl group I.O.I and re-debuted with the girl group Weki Meki the following year.
After Weki Meki disbanded last August, she went on a short-term study abroad in London, UK, and is now active as an actress in various media such as drama, film, and theater.
