Actor Jung Woong-in talked about his past where he was swindled out of all his wealth.
On the Channel A’s ‘Best Friends Documentary – Table for Four’ aired on the 13th, Jung Woong-in appeared with his best friend Director Jang Hang-joon and actor Song Seon-mi, sharing the story of his debut and life.
Jung Woong-in revealed that thanks to Director Jang Hang-joon, he debuted in dramas during his theater days after graduating from university. He said, “At that time, Jang Hang-joon, who was the main writer for SBS’s ‘Thousand and One Nights’, told me ‘You’ll hear from Kim Byung-wook PD, pretend you’re not interested at first, keep them waiting a bit’ and laughed.” Starting with ‘Thousand and One Nights’, he starred in movies like ‘Quiet Family’ and dramas ‘Gukhui’ and ‘Eun-sil’, making his name known.
Jung Woong-in also recalled his difficult family history. Remembering his father who ran a small restaurant and fell off the motorcycle while delivering noodles, spilling them, he said, “The thought of it still aches my heart.”
About his father who passed away after battling cancer, he reminisced, “Even now, I think about how bad it must have been for my father, who passed away at my current age, while I’m sleeping.” He also confessed that after appearing in the drama ‘Three Friends’, his manager used his assets as collateral for a loan, causing him to lose all his wealth.
Jung Woong-in said, “I went to the loan shark and even knelt down,” adding, “The person sticking on the seizure notice said ‘you’re famous, I’ll attach it at the back,’ giving a bitter smile.”
He also shared an anecdote involving the couple Jang Hang-joon and Kim Eun-hee. There was an incident where Jung Woong-in was bitten by a dog at Jang Hang-joon’s newlywed home and had a dispute with writer Kim Eun-hee. Jang Hang-joon sided with Jung Woong-in, resulting in him being slapped by Kim Eun-hee, bringing laughter.
