[Star Daily News=Reporter Chun Seol-hwa] “I hope that listening to my solo album ‘Happy’, which reflects my taste, brings you happiness.”
BTS Jin is releasing his first solo album ‘Happy’ worldwide at 2 PM today (15th). ‘Happy’ explores his journey to find the essential element of ‘happiness’. Through this new release, Jin honestly expresses emotions like love, excitement, and courage, and brands himself as ‘A Ray of Sunshine’ who spreads positive energy. He candidly incorporated his wish for listeners to feel happiness into his music.
Filled with Jin’s warm sincerity, ‘Happy’ includes a total of six tracks such as the title song ‘Running Wild’ and others like ‘I’ll Be There’, ‘Another Level’, ‘Until I Reach You’, ‘Heart on the Window (with Wendy)’, and ‘In Longing’. The album showcases the appeal of ‘Vocalist Jin’ in various genres based on band sounds. Jin took part in the overall album production, demonstrating his musical talent, including writing lyrics for the fan song ‘In Longing’ himself.
Jin, releasing his first solo album ‘Happy’, shared a Q&A through his agency Big Hit Music.
Q. How do you feel about releasing your first solo album ‘Happy’?
It is meaningful for me to release a solo album under my name, and I hope the fans like it. I also wish everyone who listens to the album becomes happy. My opinions are greatly reflected in this album. It’s an album that thoroughly captures my taste, and I’d be happy if people react by saying, “The songs are great,” or “I want to listen to it again.” (laughs)
Q. Key points to listen for in ‘Happy’?
This album is based on band sounds, which I love. They are especially exciting to listen to during live performances, so I recommend imagining how it would feel at a concert while enjoying the music.

Q. How did you feel when you first heard the title song ‘Running Wild’?
I felt a sense of nostalgia. I thought that listeners would also feel comfortable and familiar, so I chose ‘Running Wild’ as the title track.
Q. Behind-the-scenes story of working with Gary Barlow from the legendary British pop band Take That.
During the recording, I had to correct a lot of pronunciations. I was a bit confused because American and British accents are different, but I tried my best to pronounce them correctly through multiple takes. Of course, my less-than-perfect pronunciation was also a factor. (laughs)
Q. What did you focus on when making ‘I’ll Be There’, a song in the somewhat unfamiliar rockabilly genre in Korea?
Since I designed the song with myself singing in mind from the start, there were no major difficulties. However, I had to record the part ‘One Two Three Four’ enthusiastically multiple times because it was a bit tricky.
Q. Story behind the lyrics of the fan song ‘In Longing’.
I jotted down a few lines about how I felt when I became a trainee. It was an honest record of emotions like, “The fans are waiting, I need to sing, I need to perform.” Reflecting on those emotions, I wrote the lyrics expressing my desire to return to the fans soon. I hope this feeling reaches the fans.
Q. What makes Jin ‘Happy’ these days?
I think I’ve been engaged in various activities recently. Seeing the fans enjoy and feel happy with those activities has made me happy as well. It reinforced the idea of why I’m doing this job.
Q. Anything you want to say to ARMYs worldwide?
Thank you to all the ARMYs for waiting for the album. I believe it’s thanks to you that the album ‘Happy’ could come out. Our ARMYs, I’ll show up a lot even for the other members’ shares, so don’t feel bored! I love you!
