Suwon Cultural Foundation (Representative Director Oh Young-kyun) will present the planned performance <WoongSan×Nanjang> at 4 PM on October 11 at the Jeongjo Theme Performance Hall.
This performance brings together the nation’s top jazz vocalist ‘WoongSan’, singer ‘Lee Bong-geun’, Janggu player ‘Park Beom-tae’, and hip-hop artist ‘Song Won-jun’ to create a sensory and original stage combining tradition, modernity, and various genres.
<WoongSan×Nanjang> is a stage filled with excitement and energy, combining traditional Korean music with modern elements like jazz and hip-hop.
Like ‘Nanjang’, a center of traditional folk festivals, this performance modernizes the energy and excitement of ‘Nanjang’, Korea’s unique festival space, expanding the meaning into a total art where tradition and modernity coexist.
Leading the performance, ‘WoongSan’ is the president of the Korean Jazz Association and a representative jazz vocalist of Asia, loved by the public for her perfect harmony of artistry and popularity across all genres.
Versatile singer ‘Lee Bong-geun’, a winner of various awards like the KBS Gugak Awards Grand Prize, will deliver a moving performance by reinterpreting the essence of Korean tradition with his resonant voice in a modern way.
‘Park Beom-tae’, a transmission educator of the national intangible heritage Donghaean Byeolshingut, bridges Korean traditional and modern music with his dynamic Janggu rhythm.
‘Song Won-jun’ is set to leave a strong impression on the audience with his rhythmic rap during this performance. Additionally, saxophonist ‘Lee Jung-sik’ will participate as a special guest, bringing together top artists from various fields.
Artists will break boundaries between various genres, offering a new dimension of art through flexible harmony, presenting the audience with an original piece that leads global music trends.
The artists will fill the stage with various songs such as △’Binari’, a reinterpretation of the traditional blessing song <Bina-ri> with jazz and Gugak △’Eosa Chuldo’, a dramatic crossover work combining highlights of the Pansori <Chunhyangga> with metal sound △’Rabbit Story’, a reinterpretation of the Pansori <Sugungga> tale of rabbits and turtles as jazz Pansori △’Guest’, a unique narrative combining traditional Pansori singing style with jazz vocals △’Bae BLUES’, a creative work combining Seodo folk song <Baechigi> and WoongSan’s original pieces.
Audience attendance is allowed from 8 years old, with ticket prices at 20,000 KRW for all seats. Reservations can be made on the NOL Ticket website with various discounts available, including for Suwon citizens and KakaoTalk Plus friends of the Jeongjo Theme Performance Hall.
