Broadcaster Jang Sung-kyu (42), formerly an announcer, shared his thoughts on leaving the web entertainment show ‘Workman’.
Recently, Jang Sung-kyu opened a personal YouTube channel named ‘Fossil Jang Sung-kyu’ and uploaded a teaser video on the 4th.
The producer of ‘Fossil Jang Sung-kyu’ is Ko Dong-wan PD, who led the early days of ‘Workman’. PD Ko directed ‘Workman’ from its debut in May 2019 until March 2020.
In the video released that day, PD Ko asked, “I saw you say ‘a program that gave birth to me’ in the last video of ‘Workman’,” and then questioned “then who is the mom?” to which Jang Sung-kyu replied immediately “Ko Dong-wan,” making viewers laugh.
While doing so, Jang Sung-kyu sighed with a serious expression as he shared the backstory of his departure from ‘Workman’.

Jang Sung-kyu said, “‘Workman’ was a really grateful program, and I was always ready to step aside for the program’s growth,” but added “when I suddenly received the notification to leave, it was a bit,” trailing off his words.
He continued by saying, “They (‘Workman’) also made a choice for growth, and I respect that.”
When asked, “Did you ever express opposition to leaving?” Jang Sung-kyu replied, “I didn’t. If this is the best choice for (‘Workman’), I thought I would just respect it.”
Even so, he shared that he was quite disappointed, revealing, “For two weeks after leaving, I kept thinking about it and felt depressed even at night.”

Jang Sung-kyu was responsible for hosting ‘Workman’ from May 2019 until this May for six years. He is credited for growing ‘Workman’ into a popular web entertainment program with over 4 million subscribers through his unique humor and ad-libs introducing various occupations in an entertaining way.
As Jang Sung-kyu’s successor, former MBLAQ member and actor Lee Joon has been cast.
