(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Lee Tae-soo = Singer IU has been named the ‘Number One Korean Artist’ by US Billboard, EDAM Entertainment announced on the 18th.
In Billboard’s ‘Global No. 1 Artist Series’, which selects representative artists from each country, IU was chosen as the representative for Korea.
Billboard praised, “IU is irreplaceable,” saying, “There are many who stand out as popular idols, skillful musicians, talented actors, and smooth hosts in entertainment, but only IU excels in all these fields simultaneously.”
Furthermore, Billboard stated, “The love for musician IU from K-pop fandom and Korean music fans is absolute,” emphasizing “His popularity spans generations and is even more evident in his musical achievements and performances.”
Billboard also highlighted IU’s achievements such as reaching number one on the Melon ‘Top 100’ chart within an hour of releasing the hit song ‘Love Wins All’ this year, achieving number one on the weekly chart for four consecutive weeks, and topping the February monthly chart, along with attracting 500,000 audiences through a world tour.

IU expressed, “Global, Billboard, Number One, though these qualifiers feel awkward, I feel honored and happy,” sharing her thoughts.
