[ Asia Economy ] Group Illit (ILLIT) received a streaming gold certification from the Japan Record Association ahead of their debut in Japan.

According to the Japan Record Association on the 28th, Illit’s (Yoona, Minju, Moka, Wonhee, Iroha) first Japan original song ‘Almond Chocolate’ surpassed 50 million cumulative streams as of July and received a gold certification in the streaming category. This was achieved five months after the release of the song, marking the fastest record among songs by foreign artists released this year.

‘Almond Chocolate’ was created as the theme song for the film ‘Not Just for Appearance’ in February and gained popularity among Japanese fans, achieving a reverse chart entry. It surpassed 50 million cumulative streams according to the Oricon chart, achieving the most streams among songs by foreign female artists released in the first half of the year, and was the only K-Pop group song to be listed in Amazon Music Japan’s ‘Top 50 Integrated Chart for the First Half of the Year’.

Illit’s streaming certification by the Japan Record Association is their second. Last year, their debut song ‘Magnetic’ surpassed 200 million cumulative streams in 10 months, achieving ‘Double Platinum’. This is the shortest record period for female group songs including local artists.

Illit will make their official debut by releasing their first single in Japan on the 1st of next month. They will hold a fan concert ‘2025 ILLIT GLITTER DAY IN JAPAN’ at Osaka Castle Hall from the 3rd to the 4th, and are scheduled to perform at ‘The 41st Mynavi Tokyo Girls Collection 2025 AUTUMN/WINTER’ on the 6th and ‘Rock in Japan Festival 2025’ on the 14th.
