There is a saying that blood is thicker than water, but I didn’t realize ‘Pink Blood’ was this thick.
‘SMTOWN LIVE 2025’, presented by SM Entertainment (hereafter SM) to commemorate its 30th anniversary, was filled with a time of joy full of SM-style music, loved across generations, truly embodying the phrase “Pink Blood down to the bones” (Super Junior’s Donghae).
It has become a page in the history of SM and further K-pop.
‘SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in Seoul’ was held passionately for two days, on the 11th and 12th, at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul with the cheers of 40,000 audiences.
This event, which was like a feast carefully prepared by SM and its artists for the 30th anniversary, showcased the past, present, and future of K-pop, even though it was limited to SM’s music.
Kangta, Boa, TVXQ, Super Junior, SNSD’s Hyoyeon, SHINee’s Key and Minho, EXO’s Suho and Chanyeol, Red Velvet, NCT 127, NCT Dream, WayV, aespa, RISE, NCT Wish, Navis, Zhoumi, Raiden, and many SM artists, as well as artists from SM’s sub-labels, trainees, and SMTOWN family like Tony An, Bada, Hwanhee, and even British boy band DearAlice produced by SM and trot idol MyTrot joined.
A total of 98 artists appeared in this concert, which had a runtime of 7 hours including pre-shows.
The main performance alone featured as many as 59 stages that spanned over 5 hours and 30 minutes covering the history of SM music.
Each artist presented vibrant performances including remixes matched to each team’s color, collaborations between senior and junior artists, in addition to their hit song stages.

It was a feast of music encompassing generations from first-generation idol hits like ‘Candy’ by H.O.T. and ‘Gather Dreams’ by S.E.S., new song stages of DearAlice ahead of their official debut, and tribute stages by trainees.

The appearance of ‘family’ like Tony An from H.O.T., Bada from S.E.S., and Hwanhee from Fly to the Sky who shared glorious moments with SM in the past added joy.
A long runtime, yet the concert was impeccable as much as the traditional name of K-pop performance was prepared with determination.

From the enthusiastic cheers for current trends like aespa, RISE, NCT Wish to the expectations and excitement for the upcoming debut of new artists.
The bright smiles of many artists who pride in being SM artists, saying “Pink Blood flows forever within,” naturally reminded one of the confidence of those who boldly declared SM as a fictitious ‘kingdom’ in 2012, which was never far-fetched, at least in music.
Many stages left a strong impression, but personally, the most impactful moment was when the ‘original girl’ Bada, who debuted with ‘I’m Your Girl’ in 1997, read aloud a letter she wrote herself.
Bada, proudly introducing herself as “The lead vocalist of Korea’s first female idol group,” started mildly, saying “During what times have you heard our music?
I hope it was a comfort during difficult times and life,” and continued.
“There are moments in life when we falter, but courage is not the absence of fear, but confronting it bravely despite it.
When times are tough, always ask yourself ‘How can I make this better?’ and I hope you cheer for your life.
