Actor Heo Sung-tae shared the story of how he gave up a job at a major company and unexpectedly began an acting career.
On the broadcast of ENA Variety Show ‘I Missed You with Choi Hwa-jung and Kim Ho-young’ on the 11th, Heo Sung-tae and actor Lee Sang-i appeared as guests.
During the broadcast, Heo Sung-tae and Lee Sang-i had a conversation with hosts Choi Hwa-jung and Kim Ho-young by Yeouido Hangang River.
Heo Sung-tae, who gained international fame for his villainous role in Netflix’s drama ‘Squid Game,’ replied “No, I was skeptical. I never imagined it would explode like this” when asked, “Did you know Squid Game would be so successful?”
Heo Sung-tae said, “Even while coming for today’s filming, I talked about how you never know what will happen,” and pointed to a building he used to work at. The building was the major company LG Electronics located in Yeouido.
Before debuting as an actor, Heo Sung-tae worked in the overseas sales department of LG Electronics, handling TV sales for the Russian and Eastern European markets. He began his acting career at the late age of 34 after appearing on SBS audition program ‘Miracle Audition’ in 2011.
Heo Sung-tae shared, “20 years ago, I worked at LG Electronics. Back then, I would sweat my way to work, have a beer and complain after work, then go home,” adding, “I never thought I’d be here with all of you,” expressing his unique sentiment.
Choi Hwa-jung asked Heo Sung-tae, “How did you become an actor after working well in a major company?”
Heo Sung-tae explained, “After working in the company in Yeouido for 4 years, I moved to a shipyard in Geoje as an experienced hire,” and “While watching TV at home after a company dinner, I saw the recruitment notice for ‘Miracle Audition’ and applied on a whim,” he answered.
He continued, “What started as an impulsive application brought me to this point,” he said.
Meanwhile, Heo Sung-tae and Lee Sang-i appeared as lead actors in JTBC’s weekend drama ‘Good Boy,’ which first aired on the 31st.
