Comedian Im Rara and Son Minsu couple, who struggled with infertility, are becoming parents.
On the 11th, Im Rara posted a photo of a pregnancy test and baby clothes on her Instagram, stating, “A baby has come to us as well.”
She shared her thoughts on her pregnancy, saying, “It feels like a dream and I still can’t believe it.”
She added, “Knowing our joy may bring further despair to other couples struggling with infertility, I feel deeply apologetic. Understanding that feeling, I will always support and pray that a miracle moment comes to them one day.”
Son Minsu also announced on his Instagram the same day, “Everyone, I am going to be a dad. I will be a good husband and a good dad.”
Im Rara and Son Minsu married in 2023 after 10 years of dating. Through their shared YouTube channel ‘Enjoy Couple’, they have shared their struggles with infertility and their experiences with IVF treatments.
On the 16th of last month, they announced on ‘Enjoy Couple’ that they had paused uploading YouTube videos due to the stress caused by infertility.
Im Rara said, “We tried natural conception for six months, but it wasn’t easy. Given my age, we were facing infertility issues.”
She confessed, “We were investing about 80% of our energy into trying to conceive. We had a big fight around the fifth month of trying,” and added, “It was the worst fight we’ve ever had.”
Reflecting on that time, Im Rara tearfully said, “I even felt skeptical about marriage.”
After natural conception failed, Im Rara and Son Minsu challenged themselves with two years of IVF treatment and shared the process on YouTube.
In a video uploaded on the 1st to ‘Enjoy Couple’, Im Rara underwent a ‘fallopia tubal fluoroscopy’. This test checks for blockages or adhesions in the fallopian tubes and uterus, which can be causes of infertility.
After the test, Im Rara said, “It was so painful that I felt dizzy and couldn’t breathe,” shedding tears.
As the news of Im Rara’s pregnancy, after struggling with infertility, spread, netizens reacted with comments like “A baby has finally come to this lovely couple” and “Congratulations”.
