As BSS has confirmed their comeback in January next year, there is anticipation to see if they will capture the public once again and solidify their position as a representative K-pop unit. According to an investigation by Ilgan Sports on the 19th, BSS has confirmed a comeback in early January 2025.
The comeback of BSS is about two years after the release of their first single album ‘Second Wind’ in February 2023, and attention is focused on what kind of music BSS, who has been loved for giving comfort and encouragement to modern people with relatable lyrics, will return with. BSS is a special unit created by Seventeen members Seungkwan, DK (Lee Seokmin), and Hoshi (Kwon Soonyoung), and was the first to make a debut among many possible Seventeen unit combinations.
BSS made their first step into the music industry with the digital single ‘Just Do It’ in 2018, and grew into a representative K-pop unit by dominating both albums and music, ensuring popularity. Upon releasing their first album, BSS broke the record for highest-selling album by a K-pop artist unit.
The first single album ‘Second Wind’, released in February 2023, sold 478,679 copies on the release day according to Hanteo Chart, achieving first place on the daily album chart and setting the all-time first-week sales record for a unit. Additionally, BSS showed strength not only in album sales but also in digital music, gaining recognition for their popularity beyond just their fandom.
BSS’s ‘Fighting!’ topped major domestic music sites upon release and ranked 15th on the 2023 Melon annual chart, marking the highest position among male idol songs.
Also, ‘Fighting!’ was designated as the official cheering song for ‘Team Korea’ supporting the South Korean national team in the ‘2024 Paris Olympics’. BSS has built a familiar image with the public with their unique charm that differentiates them from ‘Seventeen’.
This comeback of BSS marks the first activity showcased by Seventeen in celebration of their 10th anniversary in 2025.
