[Seoul=RNX News] Reporter Kim Ye-eun = Singer Kim Yeon-ja showcased a hanbok with special memories.

Kim Yeon-ja appeared on the KBS 1TV show ‘Emotion Show of 100 People: The Signature,’ which aired on the 30th, and revealed a hanbok with special meaning.

On this day, Kim Yeon-ja received emotions about the hanbok she wore as a stage costume during her solo concert in Pyongyang, North Korea, as the first Korean singer to do so.

In her 2001 Pyongyang performance, Kim Yeon-ja wore a hanbok made with North Korean fabrics and personally designed by a North Korean designer.

Regarding the beautifully crimson hanbok, Kim Yeon-ja introduced it as “A symbol of inter-Korean exchange.” She continued, “I hope you’ll recognize the value of the signature that commemorates unforgettable moments in Pyongyang.”

The panel of 100 national evaluators valued the hanbok at 313.2 million won. The highest evaluation reached 1.5 billion won, which drew admiration. Upon witnessing this, Kim Yeon-ja joked, “I feel like I should engage in more historical activities moving forward,” eliciting laughter.

The professional appraisal disclosed afterward was 1.2 billion won. Experts commented, “We considered it a hanbok created to commemorate a historical performance.

Compared to the price of high-quality hanboks sold in North Korea, it holds significant value. If ever a Unification Museum is established, it will serve as a historical artifact,” they assessed.

Kim Yeon-ja remarked, “I personally chose the crimson color. If given the chance to perform in North Korea again, I would like to wear this hanbok,” and shed tears of emotion upon hearing the final valuation.

Additionally, Kim Yeon-ja expressed, “I hope in 100 years, we will be united. I wish for the story of how a singer named Kim Yeon-ja wore this outfit and performed in North Korea to be remembered as a page in history,” reflecting on the significance of the signature hanbok 100 years from now.

Following the appraisal, Kim Yeon-ja enhanced the emotion by presenting a special stage exclusively for ‘Emotion Show of 100 People: The Signature’ with an addictive, exciting EDM sound, combined with a sophisticated disco filter of French house music, to reinterpret and crossover the new song ‘Ssukdeokkung Remix’.

Meanwhile, Kim Yeon-ja has been actively engaged in music and performance activities for over 50 years, garnering great love from audiences of all generations.

She is also active in various broadcasts, and recently released a new song ‘Juicy Go (Duet with Kim Yeon-ja)’ with Young Tak, receiving positive feedback, and plans to release ‘Ssukdeokkung Remix’ with a different charm from the original song in August.
