Director Woo Min-ho expressed his gratitude to Hyun Bin. On the morning of the 27th, a production report for the movie ‘Harbin’ was held at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
Director Woo Min-ho, actors Hyun Bin, Park Jung-min, Jo Woo-jin, Jeon Yeo-bin, Park Hoon, Yoo Jae-myung, and Lee Dong-wook attended the event. On this day, director Woo Min-ho was asked why he cast Hyun Bin as Ahn Jung-geun and replied, “An actor playing General Ahn Jung-geun can inevitably feel burdened.
We needed an actor with the stamina to endure challenges,” he said. “The moment I saw Hyun Bin, I thought Hyun Bin is Ahn Jung-geun.”
He sensed that he would endure and overcome,” he began. He continued, “I actually feel sorry to Hyun Bin,” adding, “On the day of shooting (battle scenes), something didn’t feel right to me.
So, I suggested we rehearse again.
When the martial arts director asked whom we were rehearsing with, I said Ahn Jung-geun.
I thought other characters would come together once Ahn Jung-geun did,” he confessed. Director Woo said, “We rehearsed for a day with Hyun Bin,” adding, “In fact, other actors gained something from that experience thanks to Hyun Bin.
I remember Hyun Bin got injured in his back at the time.
He endured well.
Looking back now, I’m very thankful,” he expressed. To this, Hyun Bin said, “It’s my duty,” bringing warmth to the room. ‘Harbin’ portrays the breath-taking chase and suspicion between those heading to Harbin for one purpose in 1909 and those who pursue them.
