Group WINNER will hold a concert excluding Song Mino, who is under police investigation for military service law violation.
On the 7th, WINNER’s agency YG Entertainment said, “We would like to thank the fans who supported WINNER with unwavering love and patience over a long time,” adding, “We plan to hold a WINNER concert this coming July, about 3 years and 3 months since the last one.”
Only members Kang Seung-yoon, Kim Jin-woo, and Lee Seung-hoon will go on stage for this concert.
Song Mino, who became the center of controversy for poor performance during his alternative military service for not properly attending his workplace, will not participate in the performance.
Song Mino, who was charged without detention and investigated by the police for military service law violation, is known to have mostly admitted to leaving his workplace during work hours.
YG Entertainment stated, “We had already reserved the concert venue and prepared for a high-quality performance, but it’s true that there were many concerns about whether to proceed with this performance.”
They added, “Reflecting the firm desire of the members who wanted to meet the fans, we decided to proceed with the concert as scheduled. As it was a difficult decision, we ask for your warm support.”
Since debuting in 2014, WINNER, loved for numerous hits like ‘Empty’ and ‘REALLY REALLY,’ experienced a hiatus as members enlisted for military service one after another.
Song Mino, who was discharged from service on December 23 last year, was the last of the members to complete his military duty. Although it was expected that WINNER’s hiatus would end, Song Mino’s poor service controversy has made full group activities uncertain.
In response, fans have continued truck protests with phrases such as “YG should guarantee group activities for Kang Seung-yoon, Kim Jin-woo, and Lee Seung-hoon” and “Make a clear statement.”
