Announcer-turned-broadcaster Choi Eun-kyung shared her thoughts on stepping down from MBN’s entertainment show ‘Dongchimi’ after 13 years.
On the episode of Channel A ‘Friendly Documentary-4-seat Table’ aired on the 9th, Choi Eun-kyung, Oriental medicine doctor Lee Gyeong-je, comedian Kim Young-hee, and broadcaster Kim Sae-rom were shown having a conversation.
Choi Eun-kyung mentioned about her status after leaving ‘Dongchimi’, stating, “I can’t quit work completely, but I’m thinking of taking a sabbatical while organizing things little by little.”
Recalling her days as the host of ‘Dongchimi’, she said, “If I appear as a guest on a program, I don’t do well. Don’t you feel upset going home after such a performance?” She added, “Knowing that feeling, I wanted to make sure, edited or not, that guests could say everything they prepared.”
She continued, “There wasn’t a single moment I didn’t give my best or took a rest,” and reflected, “After filming, I felt exhausted and would fill my mouth with chocolate in the car.”
Choi Eun-kyung revealed, “I lived so breathlessly for over ten years. It made me think, ‘Why live like this?’ I thought I should rest a bit before I got seriously ill and ended up feeling resentful alone.”
When Lee Gyeong-je asked, “Are you doing skincare these days? Your skin looks good,” Choi Eun-kyung expressed regret, “I had laser treatment for the first time in 15 years. I wish I had tried it earlier because it’s so good.”
Earlier, Choi Eun-kyung had been hosting ‘Dongchimi’ with broadcaster Park Soo-hong since 2012 but was notified of her departure last March. The production team of ‘Dongchimi’ reportedly informed her and Park about stepping down due to program reorganization.
However, as the two MCs suddenly stepped down without a farewell, some viewers raised suspicions of ‘forced departure’.
