(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Choi Juseong = BTS member Jungkook has been nominated in five categories at the American music awards ‘2024 Billboard Music Awards’ (BBMAs).
According to the list of nominees released by the organizers on the 25th (local time), Jungkook is in the running for the Top Song Sales Artist, Top Selling Song, Top Global K-pop Artist, Top K-pop Album, and Top Global K-pop Song categories.
Jungkook has become the K-pop artist with the most nominations at this year’s awards show.
He is the only K-pop artist to be nominated for Top Song Sales Artist and Top Selling Song, and he has been nominated for Top Global K-pop Song for two consecutive years.
Groups Stray Kids and Tomorrow X Together have each been nominated in three categories, and BTS’s Jimin and ENHYPEN have been nominated in two categories each.
Stray Kids are competing as the only K-pop nominees in the Top Duo/Group category.

The Billboard Music Awards has been segmenting award categories for K-pop since last year.
In the Top Global K-pop Artist category, Jungkook and Jimin have been nominated alongside Stray Kids, Tomorrow X Together, and ENHYPEN.
In the Top K-pop Album category, Stray Kids have been nominated for two albums, ‘Rockstar’ (樂-STAR) and ‘ATE’.
Also competing are Jungkook’s ‘GOLDEN’, Tomorrow X Together’s ‘The Name Chapter: FREEFALL’, and ATEEZ’s ‘The World Episode Final: WILL’.
In the Top Global K-pop Song category, Jungkook’s songs ‘Standing Next To You’ and ‘3D’, featuring rapper Jack Harlow, have been nominated.
Other nominees include Jimin’s ‘Who’, IVE’s ‘Magnetic’, and LE SSERAFIM’s ‘Perfect Night’.

In the Top K-pop Touring Artist category, ENHYPEN, Tomorrow X Together, and SEVENTEEN are competing.
The Billboard Music Awards is considered one of the top three pop music awards in the US, alongside the Grammy Awards and the American Music Awards. The ceremony will be held on the 12th of next month.
