(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Choi Joo-sung = “Korean culture is one of the most fascinating cultures. Personally, it’s joyful to be able to showcase Korean culture to the world.”

‘Apartment’ is a duet song by Rosé and pop star Bruno Mars, released on the 18th of last month. It features an addictive chorus inspired by the Korean drinking game ‘Apartment Game’.
As the song gained popularity, videos introducing the Apartment Game to overseas fans also received attention on social media platforms like TikTok. A video of Rosé playing the game to the song exceeded 30 million views on TikTok.
Rosé mentioned that Bruno Mars found it interesting that the song ‘Apartment’ was inspired by a drinking game during their collaboration. It was Bruno Mars who selected ‘Apartment’ from several duet candidates chosen by Rosé.
Rosé stated, “I was the only one around me who believed that Mars would sing ‘Apartment’. Everyone else said, ‘He wouldn’t sing that song, don’t send it,’ but I thought this was the only song.”
She recalled, “When I told Mars that ‘Apartment’ referred to a Korean drinking game, he responded, ‘That’s cool.'”

However, Rosé hinted that her first full album ‘Rosie’, which will include this song, will have a noticeably different atmosphere. Rosé described her upcoming album ‘Rosie’, set to be released next month, as work about the vulnerable and confusing twenties.
She said, “I wanted to sing about the challenging times of being in your twenties,” expressing hope that people will understand that she’s not much different from an ordinary female friend or a 23-year-old girl.”
The album will also include a song honestly addressing experiences with malicious comments and the emotions they incite. Rosé, who has a habit of searching for mean comments online, explained that she drew inspiration for the song from this habit.
Rosé revealed, “I realized how vulnerable and addicted I am to the (online) world, and how strong my desire for love and understanding is,” adding, “Even when I do interviews pretending to be unaffected, every word and every comment tears me down.”

Rosé, who completed the album while repeating a routine between home and the studio, expressed her satisfaction with the results. She also mentioned receiving positive feedback when she played the songs to her BLACKPINK bandmate Lisa last year.
She said, “Waking up at noon, arriving at the studio by 2 PM, writing songs until 7-10 PM, having dinner, and going to bed was my entire routine,” adding, “My hobby is work.”
Most importantly, Rosé expressed that she was highly satisfied to be able to make the album according to her own decisions and hopes that those who listen to it will understand her as she truly is.
Rosé stated, “I hope people don’t misunderstand me,” and “I’m ready to show a more honest and open side to be accepted as I am.”
