The world’s first deaf idol group, Big Ocean, brings happiness with their first mini album. Big Ocean will release their first mini album ‘Follow’ at noon on the 12th, inviting people to join the journey of finding happiness.

The mini album ‘Follow’ includes a total of 4 tracks, including the title track ‘Flow’ and previously released digital singles ‘Glow’, ‘Blow’, and ‘Slow (Feat. Young K (DAY6))’. ◆ Title track ‘Flow’, featuring global producer Mark Batson. The entire lyrics of the title track ‘Flow’ are in English.

Through the title track ‘Flow’, with the participation of Mark Batson as producer, Big Ocean presents a new genre called ‘Free-Soul Pop’, suggesting the value of ‘becoming happy through music’ with music ‘for myself’. The music video for ‘Flow’ showcases a powerful performance with about 100 participants.

For the first time since debut, they enhanced diversity by using international sign language.

Additionally, the ‘Flow’ music video was filmed at the ‘National Institute for Young Deaf’ in Paris, France.

This location adds special meaning to Big Ocean as it is the world’s first school for the deaf, established in the 1750s. ◆ Big Ocean, ‘Changing the K-Pop Landscape’, shares thoughts on releasing the first mini album ‘Follow’ Hyunjin of Big Ocean expressed through their agency Parastar Entertainment, “‘Follow’ contains an implicit meaning of ‘Follow Your Happiness’.

It signifies a journey for everyone to find their own happiness.

Even amidst the busy schedule of preparing for the ‘Follow’ album, we found small joys and were truly happy in the process.

We hope many will find happiness through our music,” he conveyed. Jiseok pointed out his favorite lyrics from the title track ‘Flow’ as ‘You’ve been flowing through me.

You’re like water to me’, saying, “It means you have seeped into me like water.

We hope many fans (wave/our fandom) will naturally blend into Big Ocean as well,” he wished. Lastly, Chanyeon stated, “For ‘Flow’, we particularly use international sign language commonly used in Europe to sing.

We want to continue working to ensure diversity in music.” Big Ocean is a group entirely made up of deaf members, officially debuting on April 20th, Disabilities Day.

They have been dynamically active in various fields, expanding their influence, and changing the landscape of K-Pop as they partner with global institutions like the World Health Organization (WHO) and International Labour Organization (ILO) to inspire fans worldwide. To commemorate the release of ‘Follow’, Big Ocean will conduct various promotions in the United States and spend special time with local fans visiting landmarks such as the Empire State Building, Times Square, and Central Park in New York.

They will attend ‘Cool Out 2024’, held in the Cayman Islands from the 14th to 17th (local time), performing ‘FLOW’ for the first time.

Next year, they will attend the ‘AI for Good Global Summit’ in Geneva, Switzerland, on July 8-9, officially invited by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), where they will perform. Park Seyeon, Reporter psyon@edaily.co.kr
