The group Baby DONT Cry’s music video teaser faced controversy for sexual content, prompting an explanation from their agency. They announced that the controversial scenes will be removed in the final music video release.

On the 22nd, Baby DONT Cry’s agency, P Nation, stated, “We acknowledge the concerns and controversy from some fans and the public regarding the teaser video of Baby DONT Cry’s debut title track ‘F Girl’.” They continued, “We sincerely apologize to those who felt uncomfortable or concerned due to the video.”

Before their official debut, Baby DONT Cry released a music video teaser on the 21st. However, some netizens criticized a specific scene in the teaser where a candy bag appeared suggestive of condoms, deeming it sexual. Additionally, in the member introduction video, a scene where cherry juice is spilled on a carpet was suggested by some netizens to remind them of menstrual blood.

Particularly, the controversy grew larger because Baby DONT Cry consists of four members: Lee Hyun, Kumi, Mia, and Benny, with Mia (born in 2007), Kumi (born in 2007), and Benny (born in 2008) being minors, aside from Lee Hyun (born in 2006).

In response, P Nation explained, “The initial scene of the ‘F Girl’ music video teaser included expressions like ‘chewing gum’ and ‘biting candy’ as part of creating a rebellious and cheerful setting. The overall flow and content of the forthcoming music video do not include any provocative or sexual interpretations.”

“Regardless of the reasons, to prevent misunderstandings and controversies beforehand, we decided to delete the controversial scenes in the full music video,” they added, emphasizing, “This decision was primarily made to protect the members of Baby DONT Cry and to respect the precious opinions of the fans.”

P Nation expressed, “The cherry was chosen as the group’s symbol because the members’ images align with the strong visuals of a small but vibrant cherry. Cherries are used with a positive image in many global brands and content, and at no point during our planning process was a negative meaning or association with cherries considered or intended.”

Baby DONT Cry will officially debut with the release of their debut single ‘F Girl’ on online music sites at 6 PM on the 23rd. They are the first girl group introduced by P Nation, established by singer Psy, and the group’s production has gained attention for being handled by Jeon So-yeon from the group (G)I-DLE.
