Director Kim Hyung-joo of ‘The Match’ mentioned Yoo Ah-in’s edited footage. On the morning of the 7th, a production briefing session for the film ‘The Match’ was held at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
Actors Lee Byung-hun, Ko Chang-seok, Hyun Bong-shik, Moon Jung-hee, Jo Woo-jin, and director Kim Hyung-joo were in attendance. On this day, Director Kim said, “The trailer or promotional materials are bound to be exposed to an unspecified audience, so we had to consider that.”
Regarding the main film, he stated, “When considering the story structure or planning intent, I felt that re-editing the completed film would not make sense. It’s a story of two people, with the weight on the character of Cho Hun-hyun, but there was a structural problem in proceeding without mentioning the character of Lee Chang-ho (played by Yoo Ah-in).”
He then added, “I want to believe that once the movie is released, people will be able to understand those parts adequately.”

However, due to issues like changes in the release platform, the release was postponed, and one of the main actors, Yoo Ah-in, faced legal issues over drug charges in 2023, further complicating the release. Meanwhile, ‘The Match’ tells the story of Cho Hun-hyun (Lee Byung-hun), the greatest Go legend in Korea, who attempts to reclaim his throne after losing to his disciple.
