Singer Kim Jaejoong (39), formerly of the group TVXQ, has seen his makgeolli sell successfully, leading to emergency production, according to reports.

According to industry sources on the 3rd, the traditional liquor brand ‘Apgujeong Makgeolli’ introduced by Kim Jaejoong last April entered emergency production due to a recent surge in orders. It seems that consumers reacted after Kim Jaejoong personally introduced the product in the YouTube channel ‘High Fiction’ video, making it a hot topic.

‘Apgujeong Makgeolli’ has built recognition through consistent exposure on JTBC’s ‘Please Take Care of My Refrigerator’ and YouTube channels like ‘Yong Tarot’, ‘Jae Friends’, and ‘Jo Hyunah’s Thursday Night’.

An industry official stated, “‘Apgujeong Makgeolli’ is becoming a trending topic in overseas online communities and social media (SNS) with the keyword ‘Makgeolli enjoyed by K-pop stars,’ showing that makgeolli can be competitive with the younger generation and in the global market.”

In 2023, Kim Jaejoong is running a management business at the entertainment agency ‘iNKODE’ he founded. Additionally, he is said to be directly involved in the production and promotion process of the traditional liquor brand launched this year.
