
The current status of singer Koo Jun-yup, who said goodbye to his late wife Seo Hee-won, has been shared. In the released photo, he appeared with a haggard appearance, evoking the sympathy of fans.
On the 12th, Seo Hee-won’s mother, Hwang Chun-mae, shared a photo taken with her family on Parents’ Day through her SNS. In the photo, Koo Jun-yup and Seo Hee-won’s sister Seo Hee-je were together, and particularly, Koo Jun-yup’s emaciated face with his cheeks almost gone and protruding neck bones was noticeable. According to local media, Koo Jun-yup lost nearly 12kg in weight after parting with Seo Hee-won.

Seo Hee-won passed away from acute pneumonia during a trip to Japan with her husband Koo Jun-yup on February 2nd. She was 48 years old. Since then, Koo Jun-yup has halted all schedules and stayed in deep sorrow while leading his wife’s funeral and remains arrangement, as well as taking legal protective measures for the bereaved family. He transferred the rights to Seo Hee-won’s inheritance to his mother-in-law and announced he would take legal action for the children.
Seo Hee-won’s remains were laid to rest on March 15th at Jinbosan Rose Park in Taiwan. It has been reported that Koo Jun-yup visited the grave site every day to pay his respects, and he is currently known to be dedicated to creating a statue in honor of Seo Hee-won. The statue is intended to be set up at the place where her remains are interred.
Koo Jun-yup and Seo Hee-won’s love story was known among fans as “a 20-year connection.” The two met while Koo was active in Taiwan with Clon in 1998 and dated for about a year before breaking up. Later, Seo Hee-won married Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei and they had a son and a daughter, but divorced in 2021. Upon hearing the divorce news, Koo Jun-yup reached out to her old number, and the two reunited and eventually married in 2022.
Despite such a tragic end, Koo Jun-yup shows deep affection for his wife and a sense of responsibility for the bereaved family. His frail current appearance seems to represent not just weight loss, but a profound sense of loss after losing a loved one.
