Lee Dong-hwi has been cast as the male lead in the new KBS 2TV one-act project ‘Love: Track’ titled ‘Onion Soup After Work’, preparing to meet viewers. This news comes about a year after his split with model and actress Jung Ho-yeon, with whom he had a nine-year-long relationship, gaining significant public attention.

Ending 9-year Relationship with Jung Ho-yeon, Return After 1 Year

Lee Dong-hwi and Jung Ho-yeon started dating in 2015, becoming a well-loved long-term couple in the entertainment world. Even while actively working in their respective fields, they did not hide their affection for each other, making their split disappointing for fans. It is intriguing that Lee Dong-hwi’s choice for his comeback after a hiatus is a romance project.

The chosen ‘Onion Soup After Work’ is part of the 10-episode romance anthology ‘Love: Track’, a project that continues the legacy of KBS one-act dramas with a modern touch. In this work, Lee Dong-hwi will realistically portray the ordinary life of an office worker seeking small comforts in a tiring reality.

A Warm Onion Soup Romance to Comfort the Way Home

‘Onion Soup After Work’ deals with the story of Park Moo-an (played by Lee Dong-hwi), a pharmaceutical sales representative enduring each day at work. His only solace was a bowl of onion soup at his regular restaurant on the way home.
However, when the onion soup suddenly disappears from the menu, his peaceful daily life is disrupted. Moo-an sets out to find the reason, getting involved with the restaurant owner Han Da-jung (played by Bang Hyo-rin), unexpectedly entering a whirlpool of emotions.

The counterpart is played by rookie actress Bang Hyo-rin. Ten years younger than Lee Dong-hwi, Bang Hyo-rin takes on the role of Han Da-jung, a warm-hearted chef running a French home-style dining establishment. She feels happiness seeing customers enjoy her food. The story of why Da-jung removed the onion soup from the menu and how this incident affects her relationship with Moo-an will be a key point to watch in their emotional ‘push-and-pull’ romance.

As Lee Dong-hwi ends a long-term relationship, his portrayal of a new romance and fresh chemistry with rookie Bang Hyo-rin are generating expectations both inside and outside the broadcast industry. ‘Onion Soup After Work’ is set to air on December 14th at 10:50 PM on KBS 2TV.
