The film ‘First Kiss’, currently a hit in Japan, recorded an explosive pre-sale volume just before its domestic release, following the highest-grossing Japanese romance films ever. According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated computerized system for movie tickets on the 25th, ‘First Kiss’ recorded 8,809 pre-sale tickets as of 9:30 am that day, following the 11,874 tickets of ‘Even If This Love Disappears Tonight From the World’ (2022) released in 2022.
Given its exclusive release at Megabox, the high pre-sale volume raises expectations for a new hit Japanese romance film. ‘First Kiss’ is about Kanna (Matsu Takako), who loses her husband Kakeru (Matsumura Hokuto) in an accident while on the brink of divorce and coincidentally meets him again from 15 years ago, leading to a series of unfolding events.
It is a new work by Sakomoto Yuji, who won the Best Screenplay award at the 76th Cannes Film Festival for ‘Monster’.
