(G)I-DLE’s Yuqi proved her prowess by winning the ‘Best Solo Artist’ award at the 2024 KGMA. Yuqi attended the ‘2024 Korea Grand Music Awards’ (KGMA) held on the 17th at Inspire Arena in Incheon and had the honor of receiving the ‘Best Solo Artist’ award.
Her first solo mini album ‘YUQ1’, released in April, achieved a half-million seller record, recognizing Yuqi’s self-composing skills and mature musical world as a solo artist.
After receiving the award, Yuqi said, “I came with the members yesterday, but I didn’t expect to win an award today.
I am honored and grateful.
Thank you to all the staff, company members, and our members who helped with my first mini album.
Above all, I thank our Neverland (fan club name),” she said.
Yuqi also delivered her acceptance speech in English and Chinese for global fans. On this day, Yuqi performed the title track ‘FREAK’ and ‘Radio, (Dum-Dum’) from ‘YUQ1’.
Especially appearing with dancers wearing rabbit masks and dressed in kitschy punk looks, Yuqi captivated the stage with a striking performance, leaving a deep impression on the audience. Meanwhile, on the 16th, (G)I-DLE won the prestigious ‘2024 Grand Record’ and ‘Best Artist’ awards at the ‘2024 Korea Grand Music Awards’, achieving the honor of two awards.
