[Seoul=RNX News] Reporter Kim Yeo-eun = Yang Jun-hyeok, who is living his second life from ‘God of Baseball’ to ‘God of Defense’, appeared as the ‘New Boss’ on KBS2’s ‘Boss in the Mirror’ and brought great fun with his peculiar love for greater amberjack.
The 333rd episode of KBS2’s entertainment show ‘Boss in the Mirror’ (directed by Ahn Sang-eun, hereinafter ‘Boss’) aired on the 30th (Sunday) recorded the highest viewership rating of 7.7% and a nationwide rating of 5.2%, continuing its unstoppable streak of being the number one entertainment show in its time slot for 182 consecutive weeks. (According to Nielsen Korea)
On this day, Yang Jun-hyeok attracted attention by revealing an amberjack farm, fishing spot, and cafe, operated on a scale of 3000 pyeong in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do.
Yang Jun-hyeok, who jumped into the fisheries industry after finishing his baseball career and is living a new life, introduced himself as “a man crazy about amberjacks” and “a boss who needs to do everything himself to be satisfied.”
However, the farm staff evaluated Yang as “a boss who makes employees anxious by stepping forward without even doing well” and “a boss who requires a lot of attention,” which embarrassed Yang.
Yang Jun-hyeok also revealed the reason for starting the greater amberjack business.
He said, “I’ve tried various businesses like parrotfish, flounder, rockfish, and abalone. I invested all the money I earned during my athlete days, but due to several reasons like heatwaves, I was on the verge of failing. But after meeting amberjack, I was able to overcome the difficulties,” expressing his special affection for amberjack.
To obtain feed for the greater amberjack, Yang Jun-hyeok showed his passion for business by giving up sleep every day and heading to the dawn market in Yeongdeok Ganggu Port.
However, at the fish market, he showed his clumsy side by failing to distinguish between filefish and sunfish and even failed to recognize mackerel, a main food for amberjack.
He eventually showed his epitome of ‘a man crazy about amberjack’ by holding a young amberjack in each hand while singing and dancing during their transport by a water truck. Watching this scene, Kim Sook quipped, “He seems mentally unstable from lack of sleep,” causing laughter.
Even after returning to Pohang, Yang Jun-hyeok’s love for amberjack continued. As soon as he arrived at the farm, he neglected the employees’ meals, focusing only on feeding the amberjacks, which drew complaints.
In the end, Yang Jun-hyeok’s wife, Park Hyun-sun, prepared a meal for the employees. Despite his wife’s heartfelt healthy meal, Yang kept complaining that “it’s bland,” and eventually, dissatisfied with the bean sprout soup, he transformed it into a curious seafood stew by adding various seafood and instant noodles, displaying the typical ‘childish husband’ trait.
At the dining table, Yang Jun-hyeok expressed his affection for the greater amberjack business as well as his unique ‘flex’ that surprised everyone. He said, “I never spare money on the amberjacks I raise,” adding that he spends about 2 million won a day just on feed costs.
Yang Jun-hyeok’s flex didn’t end there. He added, “I recently bought a new truck, and I’ve also ordered a water truck. The truck costs about 40 million won and the water truck about 180 million won.”
His wife, Park Hyun-sun, who was unaware of this, was baffled and said, “I don’t ask because knowing more makes me anxious,” expressing a sigh toward her husband’s peculiar love for greater amberjack.
However, Yang Jun-hyeok, undeterred by his wife’s sigh, added, “There’s still a lot to buy. A shovel, crane, forklift, and underwater motor need replacing. My goal is to export premium amberjack overseas. In fact, there’s a proposal from Singapore. Reviving Guryongpo and establishing ‘Yang Jun-hyeok Tourism Complex’ is the ultimate goal,” attracting attention.
Meanwhile, Hwang Hee-tae, the national judo representative coach who recently received a hyperlipidemia risk diagnosis from a health check, embarked on a project to regain health with ‘runner’ Chef Jung Ho-young, creating interest.
Jung Ho-young, who is into running lately, said, “I’ve run about 1600 kilometers in a year but lost only one kilogram,” bewildering everyone, and the two visited a flying yoga center.
The appearance of Coach Hwang Hee-tae and Jung Ho-young, with colorful headbands on their large frames, prompted Jeon Hyun-moo to comment, “It would be great if they did a skit on ‘Gag Concert,’” which drew strong agreement.
The two began a weight loss competition with a group dinner at Chef Jung Ho-young’s restaurant on the line. With the hammock flying yoga starting, Coach Hwang Hee-tae perfectly executed difficult poses with the strength and flexibility befitting a national representative, drawing admiration.
Especially when he demonstrated a pose holding his head to the ground and wrapping his legs around the hammock, Jeon Hyun-moo quipped, “It looks like a whole grilled chicken,” causing great laughter.
Jung Ho-young acknowledged Hwang’s ability, saying, “I thought Coach Hwang and I were both chubby, but I realized that a chubby person who has exercised since childhood is different from one who only eats.”
Jung Ho-young and Coach Hwang Hee-tae then challenged spinning, which can consume about 1000 calories per hour. Though new to spinning, Coach Hwang demonstrated an excellent dance to the music, including wave moves, gaining praise that “a national representative is indeed a national representative.”
Lastly, Coach Hwang remarked, “Chewing exercise is also part of training,” heading to a spicy chicken stew restaurant with Chef Jung Ho-young. With the weight loss bet on the line, the two showed a war of nerves over the food at first, but soon their appetites exploded from the hard training, switching to ‘eating mode’ which brought laughter.
After the meal, the two stepped back on the scale. Jung Ho-young, who was 98 kg before the exercise, weighed 98.3 kg, gaining weight instead, while Coach Hwang Hee-tae, who was 121.7 kg, weighed 120.1 kg, losing 1.6 kg to everyone’s surprise.
However, when stepping on the scale, a moment was caught where Coach Hwang stealthily placed his hand on a nearby chair, raising complaints.
But Coach Hwang humorously added, “I wanted to win the bet to treat my disciples at Chef Jung Ho-young’s restaurant. I won with the spirit of invincibility. I will visit with my disciples soon,” adding entertainment.
Meanwhile, after the broadcast, various communities and social media were abuzz with reactions like “Hwang Hee-tae indeed has amazing athletic abilities like a human ox, and Jung Ho-young just laughs,” “Jung Ho-young and Hwang Hee-tae have bear-like appearances, but one’s a Pooh, and the other’s a brown bear,” “Flying yoga was hilarious,” “Yang Jun-hyeok genuinely loves amberjack,” “It’s great to see someone living earnestly,” “Yang Jun-hyeok’s wife is kind,” etc.
Meanwhile, ‘Boss in the Mirror’ airs every Sunday at 4:40 PM on KBS 2TV.
