[Seoul=RNX News] Reporter Han Kyung-hee = ‘Detectives’ Trade Secrets’ uncovers the shocking identity of the culprit behind the ‘expensive Korean beef theft case’ that took place at a famous Korean beef restaurant.
Tonight (1st) at 9:30 PM on Channel A’s ‘Detectives’ Trade Secrets,’ a segment titled ‘Case Notebook’ features a woman who approaches the detective team saying, “It seems like someone is secretly stealing the meat from our restaurant.”
The client is the daughter of a renowned Korean beef restaurant that operates three other directly managed locations, and she began helping with the family business three months ago.
While checking inventory and records, she discovered discrepancies, particularly in the main store, with losses amounting to a significant 12-15% of the purchases. Consequently, she asked the detective team to investigate and identify the thief.
The client was most suspicious of two staff members: the manager with management authority from the restaurant’s launch and the head chef overseeing all ingredients.
Both had access to CCTV footage and free entry to the storage, deepening suspicion. The detective team begins a full investigation by infiltrating as a part-time worker to catch the beef thief.
They confirm that the manager had been displeased about having to work under the client, whom he had known since her childhood.
It also emerges that he frequently mentioned “making a haul.” In contrast, the head chef was noted for his suspicious disappearances during break times, raising further doubt.
Soon after, he is caught deleting CCTV footage after enjoying a secret meeting with a hall staff member in the storage, raising the possibility of them being accomplices as well as secret lovers.
However, one night, the real culprit, unexpected by the undercover detectives, is revealed: the client’s mother.
More shockingly, it’s discovered that the client’s mother was secretly giving all the proceeds from the stolen beef to a female staff member. It even comes to light that she provided an apartment for the staff member, amplifying curiosity about their relationship.
