An unprecedented Antarctic expedition record is coming.
Climate Environment Project – Antarctica’s Chef, jointly produced by MBC and STUDIO X+U, airs its first episode on November 17th and features Baek Jong-won, Lim Soo-hyang, Suho, and Chae Jong-hyeop as they serve a “warm meal” to the members guarding the Antarctic scientific base in a reality program.
# The four who became Antarctic honorary members! From cooking to polar duties, showcasing unexpected charms
The four from Climate Environment Project – Antarctica’s Chef enter Antarctica as “honorary members” for the first time in show history. They are expected to tour Antarctic scientific bases from around the world located on the continent and even explore the special protection area “Penguin Village,” which cannot be entered without government permission. Not only serving meals for the polar workers, but they also assist with polar duties, getting closer to the lives of Antarctic members.
There’s anticipation for the unique charms of Lim Soo-hyang, Suho, and Chae Jong-hyeop visible only in the isolated environment of Antarctica. Actor Chae Jong-hyeop takes on his first reality program, showcasing his presence as an “all-rounder versatile youngest” with proficient English skills and diligence both inside and outside the kitchen. Suho moves between passion and clumsiness, adding an unpredictable charming chemistry. Attention is on Suho’s activity in Antarctica as the “mood maker.” Actress Lim Soo-hyang proves her sincerity towards Antarctica. It is said that she amazed everyone by mastering “special skills” for the Antarctic members before departure, as well as covering everything from Antarctic documentaries to members’ vlogs.
# Deliver warmth to Antarctic members with ingredients from the weakly stocked freezer
There’s interest in the “meal” to be presented in Antarctica. Antarctic scientific bases survive on ingredients supplied once a year, and by the time the four joined, most of the ingredients were already depleted. Baek Jong-won showed eagerness, saying he wanted to do anything for the members, but it is said he expressed bewilderment seeing the empty food storage, saying “hope crumbled.” There’s curiosity about what kind of “meal” can be served with limited frozen ingredients.
# Antarctica, the only land that belongs to no one on Earth! Blooming neighborly bonds on the icy continent
Climate Environment Project – Antarctica’s Chef adds laughter and emotion with stories of global polar people living in Antarctica. The four visit various international Antarctic bases starting from Korea’s Sejong Scientific Base to Argentina, China, and Uruguay, exchanging with their Antarctic counterparts. Despite differing ideologies, languages, and cultures, everyone is one in Antarctica. The global village life blooms on the only land belonging to no one on Earth. The ultimate rule is to help and share if something is lacking! Through encounters with Antarctica’s “next-door neighbors,” the four convey the warmth of discovered neighborly bonds in Antarctica.
# Poster depicting the climate crisis situation in Antarctica released
The released main poster shows four people looking at a collapsed ice wall from a boat. It captures in one frame the grandeur of the untouched icy continent and the reality of Antarctica showing cracks due to the climate crisis. Attention gathers around what stories will unfold as the Antarctic members, at the forefront of climate research, and those delivering warm meals embark on their journey.
MBC and STUDIO X+U’s joint production Climate Environment Project – Antarctica’s Chef will air its first episode at 10:50 PM on November 17th and will be broadcast weekly. It will be available with 14 episodes from midnight on the 17th on U+Mobile.
