Group ATBO member Jeong Seung-hwan quietly enlisted to fulfill his national defense duty.
The agency IST Entertainment announced on the 20th via an official statement, “Jeong Seung-hwan entered the Nonsan Army Training Center today (October 20th).” They added, “Due to his desire to serve quietly, we were unable to inform fans in advance. We ask for your understanding.”
The agency also stated, “Jeong Seung-hwan deeply cherishes the love from his fans and plans to return more mature after completing his service diligently. We ask for your support and warm encouragement for him to complete his service healthily.”
Immediately after the news of his enlistment was announced, Jeong Seung-hwan left a handwritten letter on his SNS, conveying heartfelt greetings to fans. He said, “You must be surprised by the sudden news of my enlistment,” and added, “I’m sorry for hastily delivering news to those who waited for my activities.” He further explained the reason for his decision to enlist, saying, “After much contemplation, I thought it was right to quickly complete the big task of military service and return to meet fans more often and longer.”
Jeong Seung-hwan pledged, “Although I am currently in the military, as I always said, I have no intention of giving up on art. I will definitely come back,” adding, “Though I don’t know in what form I will return, I am dreaming of the moment I will stand in front of you again.” He also reminisced, “I think of the fans who have supported me. They were precious and grateful times. It may feel like a long time, but I will repay you with my growth.”
Born in 2003, Jeong Seung-hwan was selected through the 2022 MBN audition program ‘THE ORIGIN – A, B, Or What?’ and debuted as a member of ATBO. As the main vocalist on the team, he gained attention for his delicate tone and stable stage presence. With this enlistment, he is the first among ATBO members to begin military service.

Jeong Seung-hwan continued his music activities steadily until his enlistment. An agency representative said, “Since his debut, Jeong Seung-hwan has had an exceptional passion for music,” and “He will continue his path as an artist after completing his military service.” He closed his short letter with, “I hope you all stay healthy and happy, and I will serve well in the military. Thank you.”
