[Seoul=RNX News] Reporter Jeong Seoyeon = Actor Kim Ji-hoon made a special appearance in the Netflix series ‘Everything Will Be Alright’ and delivered a powerful impact.
Kim Ji-hoon took on the role of Kim Gi-sa, a former search and rescue team member, in the Netflix series ‘Everything Will Be Alright’ (written by Kim Eun-sook / directed by Lee Byeong-heon, Ahn Gil-ho), released on the 3rd (Friday), and was a loyal companion to a dog named Poppy (played by Daniel Henney) who became a human named Kim Gae.
‘Everything Will Be Alright’, in which Kim Ji-hoon made a special appearance, is a stress-zero, fantasy romantic comedy about Genie (played by Kim Woo-bin), a genie from a lamp awakened after a thousand years of career interruption, meeting Giga-young (played by Suzy), a human lacking emotion, over three wishes.
In the drama, Kim Ji-hoon played a character who vouched for Kim Gae’s (played by Daniel Henney) identity while he was adapting to the human world, firmly supporting the mid-to-late narrative of the drama.
He captivated viewers at once by appearing with long, wet hair and a perfect suit fit, and showcased heavy charisma by thoroughly guarding Kim Gae, following him like a shadow wherever he went.
With the sharp senses befitting a former search and rescue team member, he quickly sensed surrounding gazes and found a person Kim Gae was looking for with just a few clues, while still charmingly accepting Kim Gae’s inability to hide his dog instincts, eliciting laughter with his contrasting charms.
He flawlessly controlled the pace of the drama with acting that naturally transitioned between seriousness and humor.
Though it was a brief encounter, Kim Gi-sa deeply bonded with Kim Gae and stayed by his side as his health deteriorated due to illness, showing heartfelt concern. Kim Ji-hoon raised this scene to the emotional climax of the drama with his uniquely sincere emotional acting.
Recently awarded the Best Acting Award in the Drama category at the ‘45th Golden Cinematography Awards’, Kim Ji-hoon has consistently pursued acting transformations in dramas such as ‘Ghost Palace’, ‘Lee Jae, Soon To Die’, and the movie ‘Ballerina’.
Additionally, he left a strong impression as the cold-blooded killer ‘Gun’ in the Amazon Prime Video series ‘Butterfly’, proving his presence in the global market as well.
Following this, he perfectly embodied his character in the Netflix series ‘Crime Scene Zero’ with his unique commitment, garnering praise from both domestic and international viewers.
In response, viewers showed enthusiastic reactions, saying, “Is this ‘Everything Will Be Alright’ or Kim Ji-hoon doing crime scene role-playing?”, “Been a fan of Kim Ji-hoon watching Crime Scene these days, should I check out Everything Will Be Alright?”, “The more I see his role as Kim Gi-sa, the more it reminds me of Crime Scene”, “I wonder if Kim Ji-hoon was cast because of Crime Scene”.
Regarding his casting story, writer Kim Eun-sook said, “I received the choice. Thanks to Kim Ji-hoon, who truly seemed like a search and rescue team member, the important scenes gained a magical ‘edge’,” expressing gratitude for his passion and solid acting skills for the work.
Despite his brief appearance, Kim Ji-hoon perfectly embodied the narrative and emotions of his character, adding depth to the drama.
Known for steady self-management and an unlimited acting spectrum, anticipation is high for what kind of acting transformation Kim Ji-hoon will show in the tvN Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Annoying Love’, set to air in November this year.
Meanwhile, the Netflix series ‘Everything Will Be Alright’, in which Kim Ji-hoon plays the role of Kim Gi-sa, was released in its entirety on Netflix on the 3rd.
