Jimin won the ‘Best K-Pop’ award at the ‘MTV Europe Music Awards’, Europe’s largest music awards, showcasing the stature of BTS.
On the 10th (local time) at the ‘2024 MTV Europe Music Awards’ (hereinafter MTV EMA), Jimin was named the winner of this year’s ‘Best K-Pop’. Following last year’s winner Jungkook, a BTS member has won the trophy in this category for the second consecutive year.
The ‘MTV EMA’ established the ‘Best K-Pop’ category in 2021, and BTS was listed as a group that year. Jimin’s solo second album ‘Muse’ and its title track ‘Who’, released this past July, have been receiving great love on various global charts for nearly four months since its release.
This popularity seems to have influenced the MTV EMA award.
‘Muse’ and ‘Who’ have been on the U.S. Billboard’s ‘Billboard 200’ and ‘Hot 100’ charts for 15 consecutive weeks.
In the UK Official Chart, it has been staying for 16 weeks, showcasing global popularity.
‘Who’ remains in the ‘Top 5’ on Spotify’s latest ‘Weekly Top Songs Global’ (calculation period: November 1-7), the world’s largest music streaming platform.
‘Who’ has brought Jimin, the solo artist, the best performance.
This track entered the UK Official Singles Chart (calculation period: July 26-August 1) at 4th place, marking the highest rank for Jimin’s solo songs on this chart.
Additionally, in its first week of release, it swept the 1st place on detailed charts such as ‘Single Sales’, ‘Single Download’, and ‘Physical Single Sales’.
