Ballerina Yoon Hye-jin (45) shared a story on a broadcast about her first meeting with her husband and actor Uhm Tae-woong (51).
On the SBS variety show ‘Shoes Off, Dolsing Fourmen’ aired on the 27th, Yoon Hye-jin, singer Park Sun-joo, model Park Jenny, and dancer Bae Yoon-jung appeared as guest stars. During this episode, Yoon Hye-jin shared the backstory of her first meeting with her husband Uhm Tae-woong.
Yoon Hye-jin, who was a principal dancer at the National Ballet Company, married Uhm Tae-woong in 2013, about a year after entering the Monaco Monte Carlo Ballet in 2012. The Monte Carlo Ballet is considered one of the world’s top contemporary ballet companies.
Yoon Hye-jin said, “I met (Uhm Tae-woong) for the first time after the Monaco trip was confirmed,” and added, “I took it as a light meeting rather than a serious blind date for a relationship.”
Yoon Hye-jin mentioned that her blind date Uhm Tae-woong was not her type. She said, “I knew he was a famous actor, but I had never watched any of his works.”
She also mentioned the reason she had to participate in the blind date was singer Uhm Jung-hwa, who is Uhm Tae-woong’s older sister.
Yoon Hye-jin said, “I was on the phone with the introducer, and at that time the introducer was with Jung-hwa unnie,” and added, “Since the family was right there, I couldn’t refuse (out of courtesy).”
Eventually, the blind date with Uhm Tae-woong was set up. Yoon Hye-jin shared that Uhm Jung-hwa was also present during their first meeting. She said, “My husband didn’t say a word at that meeting. It must have been because his older sister was right beside him.”
However, she also mentioned, “After returning home, my husband called asking, ‘Did you get home safely?’ and expressed his desire to talk more, and then he came from Seoul to Yongin,” surprising those around. At that time, Yoon Hye-jin lived in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
Yoon Hye-jin added, “Unlike during the blind date, he changed his car to a sports car and came by in it. I wondered if he was trying to impress me with the sports car,” bringing laughter.
