[Seoul=RNX News] Correspondent Jeong Seo-yeon = JTBC’s ‘Good Boy’ has an excellent production team. Even without asking, it is a trusted and reliable team of director Shim Na-yeon and writer Lee Dae-il.

JTBC’s new weekend drama ‘Good Boy’ (written by Lee Dae-il, directed by Shim Na-yeon, produced by SLL, Studio&New, Drama House Studio) is a comic action youth investigative drama where medalists who became police officers through special recruitment fight against a world ruled by unfairness and deceit.

Park Bo-gum, Kim So-hyun, Lee Sang-yi, Heo Sung-tae, and Tae Won-seok, who once stood tall on the podium with medals around their necks, now come together as police officers in a strong special team that tackles injustice.

And with just a brief description, the adrenaline-pumping ‘Good Avengers’ is completed perfectly by director Shim Na-yeon and writer Lee Dae-il, who have elevated the standing of K-dramas.

Director Shim Na-yeon, who won the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards TV section drama award for directing ‘Monster’, demonstrated a well-planned narrative and a weighty endurance to the end, becoming known as a rookie director akin to a ‘monster’.

Subsequently, ‘Bad Mother’, which varied genres, became a differentiated human drama with the theme of maternal love, remaining an unforgettable drama for many. Writer Lee Dae-il also set a precedent for top drama localization by remaking the original ‘Life on Mars’.

Debuting with a strong presence, he received praise for the fresh Korean political drama, blending genre elements in ‘Chief of Staff’, which was produced in Seasons 1 and 2.

Director Shim Na-yeon and writer Lee Dae-il have thus engraved a significant footprint in K-drama history by capturing both quality and popularity.

These two representatives of Korean dramas have united for ‘Good Boy’. This time, they present a refreshing story of national team medalists, real-life heroes, standing against injustice on the small screen.

The main characters are boxing gold medalist Yoon Dong-joo (Park Bo-gum), shooting gold medalist Ji Han-na (Kim So-hyun), fencing silver medalist Kim Jong-hyun (Lee Sang-yi), wrestling bronze medalist Go Man-sik (Heo Sung-tae), and discus throw bronze medalist Shin Jae-hong (Tae Won-seok).

With powerful punches, headshots that pierce targets, sharp reflexes, endurance that suffocates and withstands, and a strong bare hand and shoulder that seems capable of even throwing a manhole, the strong special team ‘Good Avengers’ promises excitement comparable to ‘Avengers’, which protects world peace with superpowers.

The strong viewing points of ‘Good Boy’, emphasized by director Shim Na-yeon and writer Lee Dae-il, offer high-tension thrills with adrenaline-pumping action and captivating intensity.

Director Shim Na-yeon stated, “Though the ensemble of action, comedy, romance, message, and characters of these former athlete police officers is tightly packed, we do not plan to flaunt its density.

The focus is on providing entertainment that can be comfortably enjoyed at the end of the day.”

Writer Lee Dae-il, who weaves emotions and narratives seamlessly by intricately detailing relationships, also shared, “Thanks to the director’s strength and intricacy, I was able to write with confidence despite the complex genre, raising expectations for the birth of a work that caters to all viewer needs.”

‘Good Boy’, depicting the sweeping operation of national representative strong special team by the national representative director and writer, will premiere on Saturday, May 31st at 10:40 PM on JTBC and will be released worldwide via Amazon Prime Video.
