Comedian Jang Do-yeon candidly shared her feelings about the negative comments she faced soon after joining MBC’s ‘Radio Star’ as a new MC. She confessed that the comments saying, “Why Jang Do-yeon, bring Kyuhyun back” caused her great distress.
Theo’s variety talk show ‘Salon Drip 2’, released on the 6th, featured former ‘Radio Star’ MC and Super Junior member Kyuhyun as a guest. Kyuhyun expressed his special affection for ‘Radio Star’, saying it was the beginning and growth period of “Entertainer Kyuhyun”.
When asked about re-challenging as an MC, he calmly replied, “I’ve done it long enough. I have no regrets,” inducing laughter.

Jang Do-yeon, after hearing the stories, shared her struggles of settling in as the ‘Radio Star’ MC. She revealed the agony of being compared, saying, “There were really many comments like, ‘Why put her in’, ‘Bring Kyuhyun back’ in the beginning.”
In response, Kyuhyun deeply empathized and agreed, saying, “I’ve been through all that too. Even though I work hard, it was really upsetting to be constantly compared.”
He continued with comforting words, “The past is always glorified. It’s the same for you, Do-yeon. When a new MC comes, they will say, ‘Bring Jang Do-yeon back’ again.”
Jang Do-yeon also revealed her firm resolve towards her MC position, saying, “If I get fired, I’ll walk out with the chair.”

Meanwhile, Kyuhyun recalled the pressure he felt when joining ‘Radio Star’ in the past. He revealed episodes such as researching chemistry with guests by reviewing all episodes from the start and approaching guests beforehand to apologize, saying, “I might upset you.”
“It was a really desperate program for me. Even now, I am very grateful when someone tells me, ‘I enjoyed watching Radio Star back then’,” he shared his heartfelt reflection.
