Lee Seung-gi is making headlines with his shocking transformation by shaving his head, and details of his appearance have been shared. On the 5th, the distributor Lotte Entertainment released a still of Lee Seung-gi’s character, the Chief Monk Ham Mun-seok, from the movie ‘Big Family.’
‘Big Family’ is a family comedy where the cute grandchildren, whom the world has never seen before, visit the owner (Kim Yoon-seok) of the famous dumpling restaurant ‘Pyeongmanok’ that has lost its successor because his son (Lee Seung-gi) became a monk, leading to an unexpected and extraordinary cohabitation. In the film, Lee Seung-gi’s role as Ham Mun-seok is the son of Ham Mun-seok, the owner of the long-established Seoul restaurant Pyeongmanok, who cuts ties with his father and becomes a monk.
While being loved as a superstar chief monk, he becomes the main character of a shocking scandal when it is broadcasted on a nationwide Buddhist radio broadcast that he has a secret child.
Director Yang Woo-seok said, “To portray the character Ham Mun-seok, known as the ‘perfect guy,’ we needed an actor who is smart, handsome, intelligent, tall, and perfect in many other aspects.
The first actor that came to mind was Lee Seung-gi,” revealing the casting behind-the-scenes story.
Lee Seung-gi said, “When I heard that the actor Kim Yoon-seok, whom I always respected, was appearing, the time I spent contemplating was short.
When thinking about the good script, there was no reason to hesitate about shaving my head,” expressing that he decided to participate and shave his head without hesitation upon hearing that Kim Yoon-seok was co-starring.
In the meantime, Lee Seung-gi has shown a stable yet impactful acting ability from leading TV drama ratings to his debut and early films like ‘The Face Reader’ and ‘Today’s Love,’ raising expectations that he will present upgraded acting through director Yang Woo-seok’s direction of ‘The Attorney’ and ‘Steel Rain.’ ‘Big Family’ is set to be released in theaters on December 11th.
